2 out of 5 eggsNot worth the moeny

Pros: you have a slide out keyboard

Cons: You have a slide out keyboard that doesn't work or types the letters to many time. I don't know if it is my tivo box or this remote but am having issues with it not communicating or communicating to much like the letter ten times.

4 out of 5 eggsTivo Slider

Pros: Easy Text Entry, Illuminates, solid device, smaller than original TIVO remote , Cost was $34. Superior remote layout than original; especially channel and volume controls

Cons: Uses the only extra USB for remote's bluetooth connection, we use TimeWarner Adapter in the other

Other Thoughts: Almost as Good as a Boxee remote

5 out of 5 eggsPretty good HTPC remote

Pros: It's bluetooth and has a slide out keyboard. With melloware intelliremote it has some really functionality. I use it with my HTPC and so far it works really nice.

Cons: It's shaped like a peanut but does not taste like one. I was hoping to be able to customize the set up (using melloware) so that the arrow keys would work as a mouse but no luck with that so far. I can't hold it against them since it's not really designed for that. At least it doesn't interfere with my bluetooth mouse though...

3 out of 5 eggsMeh

Pros: With melloware's intelliremote software it's more functional than it would be...

The keyboard is OK i guess... would be nice if it had alt & ctrl keys...

Cons: The IR has very limited programability, so it does not function well as a universal remote. You can only train it on power, input, u/d volume, u/d channel and mute... if you want more buttons than that you're out of luck. I had to train iput to be my TV power and power to be my amp power... not a fan.

Other Thoughts: I'm going to end up buying Gyrations air remote when it comes in. I would not buy this product again. It's not that it's bad, its just that it is not flexible enough to do what i need it to do. It might be ideal if I actually used TIVO.

5 out of 5 eggsbest TIvo remote

Pros: Nothing to set up. Just plug in the included bluetooth adapter and it works. Batteries ARE included.

I wasn't sure how I would like the shorter, fatter remote but after using it for a while I liked how much better it fits in the hand. Most of the buttons are within thumb motion. I like it much better than the original Tivo remote. Seems solidly built. Backlit keys are handy in the dark.

BT range is great. Works from another room almost 30 feet away. Tivo remotes already work very well in that they do not need to be pointed directly at the unit to work and this one is even better.

Maybe it's just me but the buttons seem to respond faster, even instantly.

Cons: Button placement took just a little getting used to compared to the original.

Other Thoughts: The included BT adapter uses one of the USB ports. This remote does not work on series 2 units. Only for series 3, HD, and Premiere.

I purchased this through another vendor and regretted it. Took ten days to ship with no tracking. Really missed Newegg shipping. Buy it here.

Even if you think you will not need to type that much with the keyboard if you ever need to get a replacement spend the extra and get this one. It's much better than the original.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Sliding Remote - tried Melloware w/it too!

Pros: The sliding keyboard caught my eye 1st and thank you to the reviewer above for the software tip on Melloware to use w/it. Build quality is very good. Price for a quality Bluetooth remote is attractive. The fact that it can be used with another software not just TIVO, hallelujah. Ive been trying to get around using fee-forced DVR through Cable companies while all my friends "pay them who do not desire any effort to buy or build an HTPC". I wanted a good quality remote w/out constraints of proprietary software. I found it. Checked out the software site thanks to the reviewer above! You can set a profile for WIN7 Media Center and too many favs to list here! A trial version of software then a reasonable fee to use in programming this remote. Its a no-brainer for me...and Im pretty persnickety about the tech equip i buy. Im one of those geeks people make fun of. Almost bought a cheap WIN Media Center remote but between AA batts, limited function and reports of USB dongles going bad

Cons: Havent owned it long, will report back with 2nd review.

Other Thoughts: Almost bought a cheap WIN Media Center remote but between AA batts, limited function and reports of USB adapters dying within a month i thought, add $30 more and get Bluetooth, a well-built remote, slider keyboard if i want to pop into a social network like Facebook for a min and longer lasting, better warranty, hopefully better Customer Svs from TIVO co.

5 out of 5 eggsNot just for Tivo...

Pros: Bluetooth, Easy Setup, KEYBOARD

Cons: A little too short and squatty for me.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this remote with the intent of using it for my HTPC build. At the price, it was worth getting a Bluetooth remote with a built in keyboard.

Out of the box, the remote is only built to communicate with the Tivo boxes, but once you pair the remote with the included dongle on a Windows PC, the remote will work with very limited capability.

In order you use the remote with various software packages, you will need to purchase the Intelliremote software from The software comes with lots of pre-built profiles that work with most of the popular software out there, but you also have the ability to customize the remote buttons for any program you choose.

If you are creating an HTPC, this remote is definitally worth the money!
