5 out of 5 eggsGreat device !

Pros: Easy and quick to set up. Software is responsive and quick to actions and requests. Using the "best" quality, a minute equates to roughly 50 MB of space -- keep this in mind when recording footage. I also like the "estimated space required" when setting a time to record footage. You normally don't see this in other software programs such as Studio 9. And Yes, the MPEGs HAVA produces can be imported to Studio 9 or any other program for post manipulation. :)

Cons: I am curious though -- what types of hard-drives are supported by this device? I plugged in a USB hard-drive and it did not pick it up. Am I missing something here?

Other Thoughts: A suggestion for others who are recording 360 footage:
Get a 1 to 2 component video splitter from online, along with the 3-RCA couplers as previously suggested. Couple the 360 Component Out to the Splitter. Have the HAVA HD Input go to one connection. The other connection, just use a single straight-through component cable to your input device (TV). This will reduce noise/scan lines on your TV that occur if you were using the HAVA HD Out which is very noticeable and annoying.

Do not expect this to record in true HD quality. That would require much more expensive hardware. The resolution it spits out is 720x480 which is standard definition - but high quality. Much better than composite!

1 out of 5 eggsVery Bad

Pros: None

Cons: The software crashed and hung up on a Vista laptop dual core with 4GB ran and dual channel 8800 video card. Stalled and hung up repeatedly when running the wizard on wireless N network. Even though I can view view videos from media center in HD just fine NOT using this product.

Other Thoughts: I installed the latest version of the software on an Xp machine with dual core running at 2.4 and 4 GB ram. Video card was a Nvidia 8600 GTS. Lan connection is 1Gb to router. Still ran extremely slow and crashed alot.

5 out of 5 eggsGood for recording xbox360 and ps3 on 1080i

Pros: Good solid device allowing you to record up to 1080i on your xbox360 and ps3

Cons: You'll need a router to use it and lost most captureing devices there is a slight 3 sec delay

Other Thoughts: If your gonna record games you'll need to buy two triple couplers doesn't matter what colors

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: Easy to setup and install. Video quality is great. It installs itself as a tuner on the computer. Streams in the RTSP protocol, unencrypted. Basically plug and play from the get go

Cons: Construction seems a little flimsy, but its just a set top box. The lights are cheap so it looks like there are more than just four. The software that comes with it makes it difficult to just install and view. Can't schedule recordings for the future with included software, but does work with many DVR programs and Windows Meda Center

Other Thoughts: I bought this so I could view TV from work. However my work computer won't let me install the software because it includes the drivers. After messing around I found that it streams using RTSP. I installed VLC player and can view the box remotely with multiple connections. I just program my computers to the channels I want to watch and they automatically change for me.

3 out of 5 eggsSomewhat misleading name

Pros: You can watch your TV from your computer/laptop or cell phone. You can record video from your TV or video game system

Cons: NOT TRUE HD!!! I cannot stress enough how dissapointed I was when I found out the hava automatically downconverts all HD video input to 480p (standard definition). I had originally bought this so I could record my xbox 360 gameplay in hd, but it turned out that i could only get 480p as the final output. Also, like too many other manufacturers, their customer support is outsourced to the Middle East and was very little help in answering my questions

Other Thoughts: I can still record my gameplay, but it doesn't look as impressive as I was expecting. If I had to do it all over again, I would have rather got something that could display true HD on my computer

5 out of 5 eggsvery underestimate this product!

Pros: this is a placeshifter device supposedily the "slingbox killer." i havent used a slingbox but i dont see any reason after purchasing this product! It is normally intended for streaming your tv through you network and stream it while your on the go through a computer with a internet connection, or mobile devices. But i use this for recording my console games. This device lets you record whatever your streaming up to 720x480 resolution. It comes with conponent, and composite cables, including a network cord to hook to your router. You are able to stream media up to 5 devices but i havent tried. For those who have been searching for a good recorder for consoles, i highly reccomend this over a tuner. I currently record mines on 640x480 clear resolution and dont plan on going back to tuners!

Cons: doesnt support hdmi connections. So you can exclude 1080p recording (then again hdmi is protected with hdcp anyways). I have tried to record games on 1080i but it failed to correct the resolution. 720 is the highest but im not complaining.

Only records on mpeg-2. No choice for uncompressed formats. So if you are a sony vegas editor you might wanna grab a converter like mediacoder (opensource).

I dont know if its just my device, but when i tilt the device upward it loses its network connection. No biggie

Other Thoughts: NOTE: if you are trying to record games, you will need to get 2 triple phono connecters. It is a female to female adaptor to connect the havas conponent/conposite connecters and your console conponent/composite connectors together. You can get them at radio shack or any electronics store. And no it doesnt matter what color the phono connecters are.
