Klipsch Subwoofer Single - SW-450

Features

Klipsch Subwoofer Single - SW-450

The SW-450 subwoofer uncovers what you've been missing in your music movies and video games -- clean chest-thumping bass. It's an ideal companion for many of our front, center, and surround speakers, whether you're looking to achieve a 5.1 system or a 5.1 on the Richter scale.

  • Powerful 10-inch driver offers increased bass response with low distortion
  • Built-in Class D amplifier delivers 450 booming watts of dynamic power
  • Sleek modern design complements today's HDTVs
  • Works perfectly with many speakers in the Klipsch line

Klipsch Subwoofer Single - SW-450

Great sound begins with a great bottom end. The SW-450 subwoofer delivers the two lowest octaves of the ten humans can hear intensifying your listening and viewing experiences.

The SW-450 fills any room with big clear bass thanks to its powerful 10-inch driver and Class D amplifier. But if you really want to experience what this hard-hitter can do be sure to place it in the corner of your room. In general placing a subwoofer along the middle of the wall or out in the room will decrease its output.

Klipsch Subwoofer Single - SW-450

In addition to its unparalleled performance the SW-450 offers unmatched flexibility. A low pass crossover and variable phase control lets you effectively blend the subwoofer’s low-frequency tones with other Klipsch speakers as well as establish a level of bass that’s just right for your room.

The SW-450 subwoofer is truly the way to go if you want to hear—and feel—your stereo or home theater entertainment.

5 out of 5 eggsJust wow.

Pros: -Great powerful bass
-Auto on/off is nice.

Cons: -It's massive

Other Thoughts: I have this paired with some polk monitor40's and it sound amazing. I am a college freshman and I live in a dormitory, needless to say I didn't need to tell anyone I got a 10" sub. With the sub around or just under half volume and my speakers all the way up, to where I am comfortable taking it at least, my entire suite just rattles. My buddy about 5-6 rooms down can feel his door knob shake with the system up.

On a more serious note, the sub really does sound great, Just be careful, it is massive, and I can't stress that enough. Check the measurements and make sure the corner you're putting it in will suffice. In my dorm room I have it under my bed in the corner, but I honestly have no idea where I am going to put it when I move back for the summer.

I would recommend it, happy spending!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat sound. Good Punch.

Pros: Don't understand some of the negative reviews. Mine never sounds 'mushy'. Always a clean sound, with plenty of punch. Have a Denon AVR 5510BT 5.2 receiver pushing this subwoofer, along with a Klipsch Sub-10. 2 Kb-15, 2 KS-14, and a KC-25 center channel complete my 5.2 setup. Excellent sound quality. No complaints. I do use the system primarily for movies and TV, but haven't noticed a loss of sound quality with music.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Yes, would, and have recommended

2 out of 5 eggsSoft, mushy, muddy, booming bass

Pros: Nicely styled enclosure
Auto standby works well
Sensible controls

Cons: My excitement for receiving this subwoofer ended just moments after plugging it in. I got this to replace a Boston Acoustics 8" budget sub that burned out after just over a year of use. It actually sounded pretty good and I was bummed to need to replace it so soon. I'm not a pro audiophile but I do know the difference between poor, good, and excellent sound. This Klipsh subwoofer definitely falls into the poor category. Sure, it will hit low notes but it does so without a defined punch. Drum beats and bass notes are soft on the edges and forget hearing detail in a drum solo or fast bass line: it just turns to a rumbling mush of low frequency sound. Maybe this doesn't mean so much when listening only to movies. It will rumble through explosions and shake the floor but, with music, the poor sound quality renders this unit as completely unenjoyable. Other reviews make similar comments. I tried to disbelieve them when making the purchase but my experience matches. This is a rumble box, not a quality subwoofer. I'm returning it and am replacing it with a Polk PSW505 and hoping for a clear improvement. If Boston Acoustics didn't have such deplorable service in their part department (they sent me two different defective replacement amplifiers for my blown 8" unit and refused to acknowledge that their replacement amps were both dead on arrival), I would gladly try them again.

Other Thoughts: Would not purchase again. Lighting fast order processing and shipping from Newegg (although I had a late delivery from OnTrac and my subwoofer was left at night alongside a road a mile from my home!).

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: Just purchased via shell shocker for $179.00 what a steal! Hits very hard and sounds clean. Does not sound muddy like some of the less expensive sw on the market. Very large box but does not bother me. The design of the box is perfect if you have kids or pets as there is no grille to collect fur or get hit and damaged. Auto on off is nice.

Cons: Zero

Other Thoughts: Spend a little extra and get a quality sub! This one does not disappoint.

5 out of 5 eggsThe most "Bang" for your "Bump..... >:3 see what I did there?!

Pros: HITS...HARD, Rich deep BASS That fills the room, beautiful design box, and at a crazy low price. I owned 1 for 3 years now, and once I saw this for more than 50% off it was a no brainer. Having one was amazing so having food means it has to be better. I have one in the front of my living room in the left corner and the second one in the back right corner of the room. Set to 180 phase. now imagine watching gravity or interstellar with both of these bad boys firing off. We are talking about full immersion bass from front and back, that's totally engulfs your body.

Cons: That my neighbors in the lower and upper apartment have given me noise complains, not really sure if that's a con lol

4 out of 5 eggsThundering Astroids!

Pros: Great bass! Rocks the whole room and seats! Great construction / looks.

Cons: Blue LED bright in dark room
Shipped in its own box; no double boxing
Box arrived damaged (but SW is functional w/o visible damage)
Box had small piece of glass embedded
Auto on/off doesn't always work

Other Thoughts: When on sale, this is a great buy. Larger than what I thought it was going to be. Has left/right RCA patch sockets, but you really just need one cable for left on SW and receiver.

The shipping box was the actual box used to house the SW. It arrived damaged, with tears on one corner and a hole in one side. The SW is suspended inside about 1.5" away from the side of the box. The plastic wrapping bag showed signs of impact, but the SW itself showed no visible damage.

There was a small piece of glass embedded in on the outside of the box. Presumably, this was from the shipping company

5 out of 5 eggsGreat component

Pros: Part of an overall system upgrade. Joins 4 Klipsch B-20 for front & rear plus a Klipsch C-20 center. This is a small room so didn't go wild with larger or higher end gear. Sounds great to my ears.

Cons: None I can think of.
