4 out of 5 eggsGreat HDD Great Price

Pros: This HDD replaced a malfunctioning 80GB drive I had on my laptop. It does the job. Plenty of storage and a great price.

Cons: Like one reviewer said, I do hear noises when I move it sometimes. Ive had it for two months now. Hopefully it lasts. I gave it four stars because of the noises.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: I have an IBM-t42 that had a 30 gig hard drive. I wanted more disk space, so I bought this hitachi travelstar. I made a disk image of my old drive on the new hitachi with Acronis True Image Homeversion 11.0. I then popped in the new drive. Worked fine. Booted 1st time. No problems so far.

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Good Value

Pros: Very easy to install. I upgraded from a Seagate 60gb 4200 using Apricorn EZ Upgrade. Within a couple of hours I was up and running without any issues. Have had no problems to date (using about a month). Drive is quiet and responsive.

Cons: As stated in other reviews the formatted capacity of this drive is 148gb.

Other Thoughts: A good overall value.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great on my G4 iBook

Pros: Quiet, relatively low temperature. The price could not have been beat. I was quoted a at apple repair center for $300 to repair my hard drive and I did it myself for $70. It was the toughest Hard Drive replacement i have ever done but that has more to do with the ibook than the hard drive. The drive is fast, fast, fast compared to 4500rpm that was in there before.

Cons: No box. I really didnt mind that the HDD did not come in a box but it worked fine and was well protected when it was shipped. It just caught me off guard

Other Thoughts: Great Product

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great on my ibook g4

Pros: Quiet, fast and it doesnt get too hot. i cant really complain about it. It plugged into my ibook and it worked like a charm.

Cons: The drive did not come in a box so it did not "appear" new. This could be how New egg keeps their prices so low but it would have been nice to know that in advance.

2 out of 5 eggsGood while it Lasted

Pros: Good storage, ran quiet enough for my taste. Used to replace 60 GB Hitachi Travelstar that came with my XPS M170. Ran negligably slower.

Cons: Failed to boot after a year and a 1/2. Got the flashing cursor of death. Buying a 3.5 IDE adapter to try to recover my Digital Photos. THen perhaps use as additional storage or see if I can repair the MBR.

Other Thoughts: I acknowledge that hard drives are mechanical and will eventually fail. However, I have 2 other machines with WD drives, 1 of which is 8 years old and still going strong. To Hitachi's credit, my original 60 Gb Travelstar is still working fine. (It's what I'm using right now, thank goodness I kept it safe) Looking at the reviews of this and the WD 250 GB drive, failure rates seem to be comparable. I'm ordering the WD 250 Gb and hoping it'll be as solid as my other WD drives. From the reviews I've read, if my WD fails I'll have an easier time with WD's RMA. Let's just hope it's as reliable as my other good WD drives.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat drive so far

Pros: Well I've been using this drive to run FREENAS (Network Attahced Storage) in addition to storing backup data for over a month now, and I've been happy with the results so far. Performance is good, and I haven't had any issues with drive.

Cons: none
