Great Dual Core
- Pros: Excellent dual core processor that can easily be overclocked with good cooling.
- Cons: Runs hot with standard air cooling.
- Other Thoughts: I am running this CPU on an ASUS Crosshair motherboard with a standard air cooling system and was only able to overclock it to %5 using ASUS's AI overclocking utility in the bios. This CPU could be overclocked higher with a good liquid cooling system or phase exchange cooling system.
Too Hot for the Performance
- Pros: Fairly fast, but not an appreciable difference with the X2 5200+ it replaced.
- Cons: Runs way too hot. I used both an AMD copper pipe HSf and an Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro 64 in an Antec Midtower case with two 120mm fans. Idle temps were in the mid 40s, load while gaming would touch 64C at times. Heated up the entire bedroom like a space heater was running. Cool n' Quiet would cut the idle temps to about 40C, but gaming would still hit the 60s.
- Other Thoughts: I will never buy more than a 65mm, 65W chip again. The performance difference doesn't justify the heat produced and power used.
Next Up-Grade to Come......
- Pros: I get most of my reviews from you ppls filling out these
'pro','con' segments. Great reviews by the way.Very Informative.... I bought the 5000+ B.E. about 4 moonths ago. Let me tell you this puppy is a MONSTER; I thought. For the price at the time,$88,00 on rebate from hundo. Short Story, i've clocked this CPU up 3.2117 from 2.6 standing. Multiplayer unlocked just like this one. So, I think of what this CPU can do. WOW.... Can't Wait!!!!
- Cons: None about 'AMD'...... Nor 'NewEgg'.....
- Other Thoughts: Thanks for all the Help everyone.... :)
