5 out of 5 eggsStill going strong after 7 years

Pros: Solid performer, multitasks well, reliable

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I 2 built identical systems using an ASUS A8N32-SLI-Deluxe main board. I only had to utilize the backup system once and that was for a power supply failure.
My system is still running strong, although there has been some slow-down due to normal software bloat. I am reaching the end of life only because of the 4mb memory and system bus limitations on this system. Running Windows Server 2003 which is still 32 bit and I now need a 64 bit system to properly run Photoshop CS6.

None of this is the fault of the CPU, I could install Win7 but I'm ready to move on to an Intel i7 system. It's a shame that AMD no longer competes with Intel at the high end any more as they used to. I will keep this system as a back-up, it has many years of life left in it.

5 out of 5 eggsA Chip For The Years

Pros: I too purchased this chip back in 2006. It's been running rock solid @ 2.7Ghz in my O'l Asus A8N SLi Deluxe for those years. This computer has been used as a lanbox for classic games like: UT2004, LFD(1 &2), TF2, CS. It has no issues playing Battlefield Bad Company 2 either.

Cons: Not a single one.

Other Thoughts: To think this chip is now 7 years old and can still hold it's own. While newer games have really pushed this chip to it's limits, it still amazes me that these first gen dual core chips from AMD are still chugging along. And to think these old dual core AMD chips used to be given such high respect & everyone wanted one. I really hope AMD can deliver a revolutionary product like this in the near future, and put Intel on the run again.

5 out of 5 eggsOne of the best CPU for an old school Asus Crossfire motherboard

Pros: This CPU is quite a classic and I am able to use it for an Asus A8N CrossfireX-enabled motherboard with a Radeon 7770 (I plan to get two). This is good enough to play SWTOR and Guild Wars 2 especially with a solid graphics card to offload from the CPU.

It was not too expensive when I got it last week and I put this CPU into a Raidmax Aeolus case. Very solid performance so far but I need to upgrade my DDR RAM now.

Cons: Slow and the CPU bottleneck performance is causing good FPS on lowest settings in SWTOR which I tested this afternoon. However, perhaps getting better RAM will help.

Other Thoughts: A good recommendation if you can find it used. Good enough to run even the most demanding games on lowest settings. Have yet to test Battlefield 3 however.

5 out of 5 eggsHall of Fame

Pros: Great Great Great chip. I had this from May 2006 until May of this year. I ran everything I threw at it. Overclocked easily. I never had an issue with it, it was just time for an upgrade. Went up to an FX-6100. (also great)

Cons: I just looked up how much I paid for it ($460!) It really hurt at the time. My new one cost less than $130. That's how it goes though.

5 out of 5 eggsAs Simpson would say," SOLID AS A ROCK."

Pros: I'd like to say I'm a proud owner of this baby. It lasted me ever since 2006! Yes, that LONG. This is hands down one of the best processors to last even that long. AMD did a good job with these. Haven't overclocked it.

Cons: The only con is the HDD which slows down it.

5 out of 5 eggsStill The Best

Pros: Extremely fast at stock
Overclocks like a beast
Runs cool
Was cheaper than the higher clocked models and yet still overclocked over their stock speeds (and possibly higher than some of them could overclock?)

Cons: It wasn't cheaper when I bought it

Other Thoughts: I bought this 5 years ago and it's still running 2.75GHz (that's 550MHz over stock). It's possibly more stable now than it was back then.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Chip

Pros: Very fast. This is my first Duel core processer, and I love it. While having a duel core CPU does not have a huge impact on games, it greatly speeds up my computer when I have multipule applications running.

Cons: No cons as far as performance. The only con I've noticed is in compatibility. I play a lot of old games, and most of them go haywire when I try to play them on a duel core. To fix this, open up the task manager, find the process for the game. Right click on the process, select "set affinity", and choose only one of the CPUS.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Processor

Pros: Good processor for my aging 939 motherboard. Overclocks extremely well - 2.9 Ghz @ 1.35V.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I got the OEM version of this processor. 4400x2, tuniq tower 120, a8n-sli deluxe

4 out of 5 eggsA good chip at a good price

Pros: It's a very versitile chip with a great price. It is overclockable provided that you have memory that meets your needs.

Cons: None to speak of. Take advantage of the chip's 64 bit processing capabilities.
