5 out of 5 eggs5yrs old Still Strong!!

Pros: Um....5yrs old and still going like it was when new. I love these drives. Yes you can hear it churn, but honestly, it doesnt bother me. This whole rig is so quiet - it makes any noise seem noticable.

Cons: None - Cant say ive had many drives last this long.

Other Thoughts: Raptors are the best drives you can buy of course except SSD's. But until they become reasonable, these things are just about as fast...and much cheaper! Also, Ive had much better luck with hard drives lasting longer when I put a cooling fan on them. Works for me! This drive has had a fan on it its entire life. All drives I have installed in computers over the years seem to have much longer lifespan with a cooling fan.

3 out of 5 eggsBad spots appearing on disk

Pros: Fast.

Cons: Just got my PC back from the local PC store and their testing said the Raptor has bad spots and is slowing dieing.
Bummer! Bought in eary 2008. I'm happy that WD has a five year warranty on it and stands behind their work.

5 out of 5 eggsReliable

Pros: Bought this back in June 2007, and it is still running strong!

Relatively fast.

Cons: -Outdated nowadays

-Loud

Other Thoughts: All my other hard drives come and go, but I'm still waiting on this baby to fail so I can replace it with a SSD.

Pros: Booted fast

Cons: Died within several months with light use

Other Thoughts: Click of death started after about 6 mo. of use. Wouldn't boot then died permanently.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat While it Lasted

Pros: Great Drive, my Dual Core, Dual Processor Computer was faster than my Quad Core computer with this thing running it, perhaps type of RAM compatibility could have been the issue there. However, praise to its quickness.

Cons: Not worth the quickness if it is going to die after, oh, dont' know, but say its been 3 to 4 years.

3 out of 5 eggsSolid for 3 years

Pros: It's been a solid operating system boot drive.

Cons: Just over 3 years and drive is failing. Constant read errors and now loading up on bad sectors.

2 out of 5 eggsFast--while it lasted

Pros: Fast, relatively quiet

Cons: I have purchased 2 of these drives from Newegg. Both failed within less than 3 years. Neither gave any hint or warning of pending failure.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks fine

Pros: WD (have owned since 9/07 not one problem, it's the main OS drive), quiet, 5 yr. warranty, temp.

Cons: Price, size, interface speed (sata 150, not 300).

Other Thoughts: It cost more, but I got what I paid for. No DOA, or issues a month later.

2 out of 5 eggsGood while it lasted

Pros: Good Fast Drive while it lasted

Cons: Lasted for about 3 years in a very well ventilated case, then the OS crashed and the drive could not be found. It just set there and buzzed. I lost everything.

Other Thoughts: RMA Process was OK, they sent a new re-manufactured drive.

1 out of 5 eggsGood while it lasted

Pros: Fast, I got the rebate check back

Cons: It failed after working fine for 1 year and 8 months.
It was working fine, then my computer crashed and when it automatically rebooted the hard drive was not recognized. And it just made this awful clicking noise. I tried installing it in another computer but the hard drive had the same problem.

Other Thoughts: Fortunately, I backup my hard drive every 1 or 2 weeks. But I still lost about 2 weeks worth of data. I am reluctant to send back the drive to western digital because the drive may have had sensitive data on it.
