Seagate NAS HDD ST4000VN000 4TB 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive
  • Owned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: Great performance and capacity for the price

Cons: Bought one drive and it had been working great for months. So I took the plunge and ordered six more. Of those six, one died after less than six hours of use (clicking, no longer detected by Windows), then a second died within 24 hours of use. Reading the reviews it seems others have had similar experiences. I'm concerned about the long-term safety of my data on these drives. Seagate needs to ramp up their quality control.

Other Thoughts: I'll still buy these, because on paper they fit my needs exactly. But they need to do something about the reliability.

G.SKILL Ares Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-1333C9Q-16GAO
  • Owned For: less than 1 day

Pros: None. I was not able to get these modules to work with my systems.

Cons: Something has changed in the manufacturing process of these DDR3 modules. Memory made before a certain date (2013) works fine. Memory manufactured more recently than that date doesn't work at all in my dozens of Dell OptiPlex 780 business-class workstations. System won't even POST, just gives a long beep as soon as you plug it in.

Other Thoughts: I do not recommend purchasing these modules if you have a Dell system.
