Wonderful Laptop, held back by an awful screen
Pros: Excelent Graphics thanks to its GTX 860m with 640 maxwell Cuda cores and 2 gb GDDR5 Vram. High or ultra settings on most games. Efficient CPU. Back up built in GPU performs adequately as well. Tough, Nice, Aluminum body. Good Speakers.
Cons: Bad Screen. Bad viewing angles, bad colors, bad contrast. Slightly incovienient touch pad, I press sometimes on accident to some pretty bad effect. If you wanted to upgrade to windows 10 technical preview, GTX 860m will not work. Small battery. 4 hours on casual browsing, 1.5 hours of gaming.
Overall Review: As I said, if you want the awesome graphics, do not move to the windows 10 technical preview (As of December 9 2014). The computer is great for gaming, able to run pretty much every game on high to ultra settings at 30-60fps. The screen is acceptable for gaming, not eye blinding awesome, but not distractingly bad. When you turn off the games though, the screens flaws become unmistakable. There is a clear line from super bright to super dark in the screens field of view directly through the horizontal.look upwards to the screen and it is very dark, downward and its a little bright. Aside from this, the viewing angles are pretty bad and the color not great. Most annoying to read the time in the corner of the screen, bad viewing angles, but unexpectedly acceptable for games. I would still buy this PC again because it is the only laptop in its price range with the gtx 860m, a must for me, and the nice, tough aluminum body I wanted after my last laptop kept arriving broken. If you buy this, the first thing you should do is go to the intel display manager and configure your display. Then use the windows display configure to be certain your configuration is good. The display is 10 times better after configuration.
Great in Theory, cannot practice
Pros: Cheap Decent dedicated graphics Very power efficient. Pretty
Cons: Fragile, spotty production
Overall Review: Arrived with a cracked screen. No problem, sent back for an RMA to replace it. 2 weeks later, the replacement arrives and cannot even power on. A shame for a computer that has so much theoretically going for it. But I received two faulty laptops, so I must leave a bad review, just my rule.
yep, exactly what it says
Pros: It is a flat, 100 ft long Ethernet cable. And I have no reason to believe it is not cat5e.
Cons: They did not give me a free TV, or anything above what they advertised. Its just a perfectly functional, flat white Ethernet cable.
Works straight out of the box in ubuntu 12.04
Pros: I plugged it straight in and it started working, no additional drivers needed, and it is much faster than my wifi, so no bottleneck. Good for ubuntu 12.04.
Cons: Only one antena, not two, but I have seen no imact on performance.
Overall Review: Do not fear if your run ubuntu, 12.04 at least.
Works in ubuntu 12.04
Pros: This has not broken and came working.
Cons: I do not know of any
Overall Review: No problem.
Lots of memory
Pros: Lots of memory, no compatibility issues in ubuntu 12.04, with FX-6300
Cons: Does not glow in the dark and talk to you. It also ignores me when I ask it to make breakfast, and I think it resents me. It also is not ECC, but I hope you did not expect it to be.
Overall Review: The sky does not change colors often enough.
