Sleeeeeek notebook
Pros: + Price - Less than three Franklins (US) + Weight - VERY skinny notebook PC (no CD/DVD drive) + 4 GiB RAM + 500 GiB hard disk drive + wide screen + numeric keypad + this unit looks and feels new. + Easy to install Ubuntu flavor of Linux. (See below.)
Cons: - To quote Maxime, this is indeed a fingerprint magnet! - 5400 RPM hard disk drive - no CD/DVD
Overall Review: I usually wait until the NewEgg powers-that-be ask me to write a review. Not this time; it's only been a few days, but so far, so good! My soon-to-be college kid smiles when asked about it. We shall see if the report card makes ME smile... I installed Ubuntu 14.04 on this sleekbook via a USB stick, using Unetbootin utility from sourceforge. Quite automagical. (FWIW, Ubuntu even tells me when the [optional] wireless mouse battery was running low...)
Solid heavy duty laptop with good features
Pros: Pro: Heavy duty build. It's got a good solid feel to it. The lid clicks in place; it doesn't just rest like a more consumer-oriented laptop. Beautiful "full HD" screen (1920 x 1080 I believe). Refurbished, but only the touchpad was shiny from use. backlit keyboard, with 4 light settings and "off." DVD drive QUIET! I cannot hear a cooling fan. Does it have one? Windows 10 PRO . Nice. Touchpad as well as a pointing device in the middle of the keyboard. WiFi -and- Ethernet network adapters Large 180W power supply, about 1" x 3" x 7" Four USB ports. Buttons for audio volume up, down, and mute
Cons: The touchpad is a little shiny from use. I still works perfectly. It's heavy (but I knew that going in). Heavy DUTY for a laptop (about 6 lbs).
Overall Review: It's heavy: 6 lbs at least. That's 'cause it's built like a tank; it's a PRECISION model. This thing is like a certified pre-owned luxury car: a couple of years old, but performs as well as, and for the price of, a new economy model. No regrets.
Drop-in replacement for a failed mainboard with an x370 chip set
Pros: - Replaced a failed motherboard with x370 chip set. - Was able to use existing Ryzen CPU, RAM, PSU, fat ATI video card, etc. from failed motherboard. - Booted on first try. - The lights are capable of entertaining cats and smaller children. - Has leads for MORE lights ("RGB headers" I think) if you want to go wacky w/ lighting. - LOTS of USB ports. - And it even has a PS/2 port! Old skool. - THREE year warranty. Noyce.
Cons: None really.
Overall Review: Never had any problems with any ASUS purchases. This was no exception. After dropping in this motherboard, the PC booted to Windows10 on the first try. (Added the fat video card some time after the first boot, fwiw.) Nice to have that throwback PS/2 port, too, for old times' sake. Lastly the three year warranty is nice to have; last mainboard (NOT an ASUS) failed at the 2-year mark.
Runs and runs and runs, as expected.
Pros: + Did I mention it runs and runs and runs? No hiccups ("hiccoughs") yet, and it's been about a month. + This saves me $10/month on my Comca$t bill. + Smaller than the Comca$t-provided monster-sized modem; the lack of a built-in router, or phone jacks may be a factor. Went from a cigar box to a thick paperback book in size. + My 30Mbps service speedtests at 29.8 Mbps. + 4+ devices share the bandwidth just fine: 1 fire stick, 2 PC's, 1 kindle, and a few phones connecting via Wi-Fi (on a separate router which I also bought here i.e. from The Egg). + I have no issues with temps; at most 82F on the sides when ambient temp is 62F in cellar. + The LED lights are a purty Cubbie Blue
Cons: None. Nought. Nil. Zip. Diddly-squat. {}
Overall Review: I would recommend this item. I would buy one again. Not for me, 'cause this thing just works. --J.G.
Back to normal (shaving)
Pros: Shaving with old (1- or 2-year old) Panasonic shaver is BACK to NORMAL after installing these replacement blades. The package does not mention my Panasonic blah-blah-blah 4026 shaver, but this blade/heads combo DOES fit my 4026 shaver just fine.
Cons: Cost almost as much as the new shaver (probably because the shaver, also from Newegg, had such a Newegg price).
Overall Review: I may not always shave with an electric shaver... but when I do, I shave with the Panasonic WES9839P Replacement Stainless Steel Outer Foil/Inner Blade Combination. Stay bearded, my friends.
