Does this come with a cpu cooler?

The 1600x does not come with a cpu cooler. You will have to buy an am4 compatible cooler to go with it. You can also opt for the 1600 instead which is more affordable and does come with a cooler.

What kind of DDR4 is compatible with this processor?

In theory, any DDR4 memory should be compatible with the processor. In reality, you'll have to check with the motherboard manufacturer to see which ones will work. 
In general though, Ryzen processors seem to work best with 2 sticks of memory with speeds of up to 3000mhz. 
If you want to squeeze the best performance out of your processor I'd also suggest looking into the difference between single rank and dual rank memory in therms of Ryzen. Making sure you have single-rank memory will ensure the highest possible performance but comes at some extra cost and is more difficult to find.

Question 3

How hot do yours run?
I just built my 1600x and at idle its hitting 58c with 212 evo.
I cleaned the thermal and reapplied the thermal, but no joy.

Is this normal? or should I try replacing the cpu?

Ryzen automatically runs hot, Amd put a 20c degree offset on all X based CPUs. If its at 58c its really at 38c so your evo is doing a decent job keeping it cool. Im guessing you havent overclocked it yet. I try to run mine @4.0 but my temps shot to 85c to 90c, as a heads up the max TQ on these are 90c with others saying at 85c so definetly keep it under 85c, your temp is good for a stock 1600X with 6 real cores. Im at 3.95GHz with a Vcore of 1.38. When overclocking AMD stresses that no one should go over 1.45 Vcore due to degradation and a short lifespan of the CPU. The overclock community even says dont go over 1.35 Vcore unless your on water loop and shooting for best performance of course we all want that but this CPU is a beast even on stock lol. But if you think it might be the paste reattemp it, I reapplied 5 times, Talk about having an OCD lol. I hope i helped.

No, the 1600x does not include a cooler therefore there is no included thermal paste. Whatever cooling solution you pair with this processor will likely include the necessary thermal interface material.

With any AM4 socket board. Always match the socket type on the cpu to the socket type on the board.

What is the max ram speed for this processor?

All ryzen processors support the following memory configuration.

DDR4-2666 ×2 Single Rank, DDR4-2400 ×2 Dual Rank, DDR4-2133 ×4 Single Rank, or DDR4-1866 ×4 Dual Rank.

However, with overclock memory profiles (xmp) you can use memory up to 3600mhz depending on your motherboard. Many reviewers have easily achieved stable performance at the rated speed of memory up to 3600mhz. With future bios updates you may even be able to run faster speeds.

If i use this to upgrade my Ryzen 5 1400 - will the air cooler on that one be able to work for the 1600x?

it will physically fit no problem, but i would not use it long term.  The 1400 tdp is 65 watt, while the 1600x is a 95 watt cpu.  the 1600x runs a lot hotter than the 1400. and the cooler while works well for the 1400 its just to small in size to cool it properly.

Regarding an earlier question i asked, i forgot to mention i will be overclocking. If that matters, should i go for this chip or the standard 1600? Any motherboard recommendations?

You're generally going to get slightly faster clock speeds out of the 1600x's just because the base clock is already faster and the chips are binned to be slightly better than the ones going into the 1600's. However, the 1600 is generally accepted as the price to performance sweet spot for the Ryzen 5 line-up.

As far as the motherboard there's very little (if any) difference in overclocking performance between the B350 and X370 boards. Get one that's in your price range and has the features you want and you should be fine.

12. If anything, the i7-7600k is much better value for gaming than the i7-6700, and if you are going team blue, then go for that. But if you video edit than Ryzen is a lot better
