Does this drive come in a sealed retail box from the manufacturer like in the picture?

Yes. The box is sealed and the drive inside is also sealed in silver antistatic bag. ;-)

How loud/noisy is this compared to other 2tb drives?

TO be honest, the computer I put this in has fairly noisy fans, but I didn't notice any loud seeking or head movements. I liked this one so much I got the 3 TB one for my new computer build 2 weeks ago and i can't hear it at all. Hope this helps, AJ

What does retail package mean?

The tag “Retail Package” means the drive comes in a retail box like you would purchase in a store as aposed to “OEM” or “Bare Drive” designation means the drive comes in nothing but a anti-static bag with no warranty card or manufacturer packaging, etc.

What is the estimated life of this hard disk (in hours please)?

Ya, really. Give it about an hour because it is used and accept that anything more is a gift.

Anyone have any benchmarks on this thing yet? Transfer rates for example?

Around 200 MBps both ways on sata3 (6Gbps)
