Question 1

Does It Have 6 Or 8 PCIE Connectors For A Video Card? My Video Card Has A 6 Pin And A 8 Pin Connector On Card?

Accepted Answer

Each PCI-E cable has a quantity 2 - 6+2 connectors on the end. That means the cable can connect to either a 6 or 8 pin GPU. Each connector At the end is separated by about 3-4 inches. If your video card requires both a 6 and 8 pin you can use one cable for both connections. In addition there are multiple (I think 3) PCI-E cables included. So you could also connect two different cables for each of the 6 and 8 pin connections.

Question 2

Is it silent?

Accepted Answer

yea boi! it has fanless mode that means the fan aint spinnin, it also has 'silent mode' idk what that means but BRUH it says all this in the product description. i'm happy with mine, my bequiet case fans are louder than this PSU. if u have an air cooler on ur CPU it will also be louder than this PSU.

Question 3

Does it have dual 8 pin CPU power supply connectors? Or only one?

Accepted Answer

There are two 8 pin CPU connections usable, even with all three 6/8 pin PCI-E connections being used too.

Question 4

Can I power three graphics cards that require two 8-pin connectors each with this 850W PSU? Are there enough VGA power cables included and what type are they?

Accepted Answer

This PSU certainly can support 3 graphics cards since it has 3 x 6+2 pin PCI Express Power connectors. Whether you want to plug in 3 graphics cards that require 8 pin PCI-E power connectors, though, is another story, since usually that means you may be drawing up to 250-300W of power per card or 750-900W if you have all 3 cards running at full throttle (not counting the power your CPU, motherboard, HDDs, etc. also use) and this is only a 850W Power Supply. So you may be constantly running this power supply at full tilt then. Regardless, it is a quality power supply though.

Question 5

Haswell supported?

Accepted Answer

Can't imagine why not. I used it as a bench PS for a few weeks until it went into the build below. During that time, it was used to test and CPU and MBs including Sandy Bridge, Ivy Bridge and Haswell combos.
I'm using this currently on a z270 + 7700k +32gb +1080ti + 3x SSDs = great so far.

Question 6

Will this fit an Alienware Aurora R7 desktop?

Accepted Answer

As that system seems to be housed in a mid tower case, I would imagine it will fit without issues. I would contact Dell/Alienware directly to confirm this.

Question 7

Do you think this can run two Vega 64 video-cards? I am trying a crossfire setup.

Accepted Answer

It honestly depends on how your using them. The power usage is dependent on how many monitors and what you use your computer for. If you have 3 monitors and your gaming with ultra setting on all 3 monitors then you would be pushing it. Look up Vega 64 power consumption on tomshardware as it has a chart about usage and power.

Question 8

How many gtx 1070s i can power using this psu? (850watts). Can i power both GPU and riser using one dual pcie cable thats included in the psu?

Accepted Answer

That depends. If you have overclocked cards they could go as high as 170W a piece. Also you need to keep in mind the power draw on the rest of the system. Meaning CPU, memory, hard drives, and fans.
4 GTX 1070s overclocked can go to 680 watts. So I would say that is probably the max you would want to load it with. I use 4 R9 270X cards overclocked with this PSU, which would have similar power draw qualities. Could I add another? Possibly, but power supplies do not run at their best efficiency at full load. Power draw is probably the most overlooked part of a miner's build, there are lots of weekend warriors out there who never give a thought to efficiency.
If you are interested in profitability, efficiency should be a top priority.

Question 9

Does this power supply have pfc or active pfc?

Accepted Answer

based off the spec sheet and output numbers it acts like a Active PFC, im not 100% sure, but im pretty sure, i cant fathom Seasonic not using a Active PFC in this PSU

Question 10

Can all of the 8-pin labeled PCIE/CPU ports be used as actual PCIE ports? In other words, is there any specific port that I HAVE to use for a CPU or can I use all 5 with PCIE cables. I am trying to figure out if I can use this as a secondary PSU to power video cards; thus, I already have a PSU powering the CPU and would like to use all five of these ports for GPUs.

Accepted Answer

I use this power supply exactly as you are describing -as a second power supply for PCIE connections to GPUs for mining. It is stable. However you need to put a kill a watt on each power supply to balance the load. You need to take into account the power for the Molex connnection for the PCI E slots. Just don't overload the supply.
