Pros: -Insane performance
-Makes my old Intel 5930K feel like a calculator

Cons: -Price
-Size

Other Thoughts: This CPU is a monster! My video workload times have been cut down several times compared to my last system (Intel), and that using HEVC too! So much power that I am still able to play 4K games while running my video workloads too. Simply amazing. Definitely pricey but worth every penny.

Solid Performance for the price. It's a beast!

Pros: - Paired it with a Liqtech II 280 and Grizzly Kryonaut. Runs at 38-40C in "ultra quiet mode" during day to day activity and 55C under full load. In a more aggressive fan profile, I can run day to day activity at 32-35C.
- It's fast. Multi-threaded performance is great. Single threaded performance is solid as well.

Cons: - No major issues to date.
- It puts out a lot of heat under load, but I knew this would happen. On the bright side, it's a nifty space heater.

Other Thoughts: - For those that have heat issues and are using Arctic Silver with the AIO, you will need to step up to newer, high-end TIM such as Grizzly Kryonaut. I've used AS for my last 5 builds and attempted to use it on this build. After giving it two weeks to break-in, the CPU ran hot and routinely peaked around 72C. Kryonaut resolved the heat issues.

A $900 16 core value

Pros: -Extreme value at full MSRP for the amount of cores you are getting
-Coolest retail box out there
-Asetek TR4 bracket included
-Very fast and a rendering and workstation tasks

Cons: -Massive in size with not many coolers available that cover the whole die
-Motherboard options can be less or non existent compared to X299
-Can game but just doesn't reach i9 levels
-Not that much better than a 1950X

Other Thoughts: For me it depends how much you value gaming. An i9 7960X can get easily get 10+ FPS over a 2050X even in PBO mode, so if you desire to get the best gaming experience and don't do as much workstations tasks then Intel if your horse but know a i9 7960X is literally twice the price if not more than a 2950X. If you want to game but are okay getting 10+ frames less and want to save $900+ than yeah TB2 2950X is an amazing value. I used the Asetek TR4 bracket w/ a NZXT Kraken X52 on a Asrock X399M Mobo and temps have been great. Great overall value but also consider first gen 1950X which is very close to a 2950X but at hundreds less

What a beast. Such an upgrade from my 6800k.

Pros: Half the time I'm using my new build I feel like it's so overkill (like while writing this review). However, the days that I have 3 instances of Vegas open, rendering 3 - 4k videos, Photoshop open, Outlook, 20 tabs of Firefox, and playing Overwatch, - and it DOESN'T SLOW DOWN - those are the days I can justify spending the money.

Cons: Expensive

Other Thoughts: I would buy this again over and over.
Cooling options were limited, but I was going with a full loop anyhow, so that wasn't a huge issue.

Thundering BEAST!

Pros: Processor is blazing fast, and with appropriate cooling will scale to 4.225 gz with zero sweat, just a very minor voltage bump. Also mated to a Gigabyte Aorus and quality memory helps... Userbenchmark scores this CPU in the top 2%

Cons: The cost is the only con attributable to this CPU, however the competition is even MORE expensive and for less technology. I bought the 1950X last year, so a hundred bucks less I'm good! To those individuals complaining about non booting, with different mainboards, different memory, the one thing, quite possibly the most CRITICAL thing I did NOT hear, what PSU were you using? This processor requires powerful rails/rail and you must feed it appropriately. No cheap PSU, anyone in their right mind buying this system would NOT upgrade to a minimum 1000 watt high end PSU, EVGA, Corsair, Cooler Master etc.

Other Thoughts: Incredible performance in gaming, as well as VR. Seamless performance coupled with a 1080TI and 32 gigs of memory

Much Wow

Pros: - This sucker has horsepower to spare
- I was able to OC mine to 3.9Ghz out of the box with water cooling
- It's heavier than any cpu I've ever worked with

Cons: None

Fast and Powerful

Pros: * What is not to like about 16 cores with Hyper-threading
* Value to power is through the roof (good, economical processor choice)

Cons: * Individual cores run slightly slower than Intel; I knew this going in but just in case you're curious.

Other Thoughts: * Unless you actually have a bed made of money that you're constantly rolling in (and, if you do, can i have some of it?), I highly recommend this processor. True, it's *slightly* slower than Intel's top offering in core vs. core, but it has more cores for better multi-tasking and I've not seen my CPU bottleneck any of my games so far. It is also HALF THE PRICE of Intel's nearest competitor making it a great choice and a real bargain.

Rendering Too Fast!

Pros: I just switched from x99 platform (5820K) to x399 (2950X) and I am super happy! I have always been Intel's fan, but with AMD's price and performance, Intel can no longer be considered as a viable option for HEDT. I don't consider 16 cores overkill; I can play, work and have a hobby all at the same time. :) 2950X allows for multiple computers in one machine.

Here is my setup:

1. Case: CoolerMaster H500 (not H500p) - Relatively cheap, well built and a lot of airflow, RGB is not necessary. Cable management could be better, unless all your HDD/SDD are m.2.

2. RAM: 32GB (4x8) G.SKILL Flare X 3200 C14 - SUPER expensive. It is crazy fast and AMD compatible (Samsung B-Die). I was able to run it @ 3200 with C14 with Asus BIOS set to profile 1 with ease. Please note: that you don't have to get a B-Die RAM, or C14 latency, any DDR4 should be fine. PLEASE FOLLOW MOTHERBOARD INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO INSTALL RAM; DON'T SIMPLY PLACE RAM IN RANDOM SLOTS.

3. Motherboard: Asus Zenith Extreme - I love Asus motherboards. There are a lot of negative comments about Zenith, but honestly I have had 0 problems with Asus. The BIOS interface is the best in this space, and ROG community is very helpful. If you are going to overclock the CPU, you cannot go wrong with Asus. VRM might not have as many phases as MSI MEG, or the best VRM cooling, but overclocking 2950x is quite easy with VRM staying relatively cool.

4. CPU Cooler: Deepcool Fryzen TR4 - An amazing CPU cooler, but very hard to find (check Newegg). It covers the entire CPU plate! Better cooling than Cooler Master Wraith Ripper, cheaper, and leaves tons of room for the RAM height. I am not a big fan of AIO cooling. Never the less, try to get a cooler that covers the entire CPU heat plate; although such coolers are hard to find. Noctua NH and Cooler Master MA621P TR4 are available and perform great, but I personally don’t like how they look.

5. SSD: WD Black nvme – Fast, no need for 970 PRO, unless you want to go at the speed of light.

6. PSU: EVGA SuperNova G2+ 850W – No need for more power, unless you are doing 32 cores overclocked.

7. CPU: 2950X - WOW! Easily overclocked to 4.1GHz all cores.

Cons: Renders too fast!
