Glad I got mine before it was discontinued.

Pros: In five days I will have been using this baby for three years. It still runs like the day I bought it.

I like sitting at 4.20GHz @ 33-39C on air. It has pretty much been like this since the day I bought it, 3 years ago. Takes a little tweaking to get past the constant BSoD's, but once that's done, it runs most excellently. I can OC much higher than 4.20GHz, but come on.. Why would you ever wanna not be at 4.20?

With the Coolermaster V8 heatsink, this idles around 33-39C and never exceeds 50C unless under extreme load. It usually wont ever get this high unless it has been up for numerous days running a VM amongst other things.

Cons: Cons? .. I came back three years later to write a review on a discontinued product that STILL impresses me to this day!

Other Thoughts: Hmm... Inb4 it breaks right after I finish expressing my confidence in it...

Oh it also performs better on XP than Win7. Sooooo much noticeably better. If you use Win7, settle for the lesser version of this cpu and save some money.

Great CPU!!

Pros: There's nothing you're going to throw at this CPU that it won't be able to keep up with. This CPU is overkill for pretty much everything aside from Video editing.

Cons: Price. it also has a habit of temp spiking.

Other Thoughts: I've taken this CPU to 4.3GHz and kept it there and higher since i bought the chip 2 years. I've watched the temps on it jump to over 100 C on more than one occasion (Yes, i know that's way to hot) and the chip still works like the day i bought it.

Marco P.

Pros: Great CPU, excellent for over clocking, very stable, no freeze ups as of yet and it has been a year and a half.

Cons: Not all CPUs are made the same and in my case mine requires heavy voltage to reach clocks others can do at a lower voltage setting. Not a huge issue but I did require water cooling in order to reach clocks others could reach on air. Not a huge issue, with water cooling I can now truly unlock my CPUs potential.

Other Thoughts: Pricey but well worth the money. You get what you pay for and with this is no exception. I have no doubts about this CPU. Even today I would go for this over an i7 920 or anything below the i7 975.

Unbiased of Price

Pros: Over a year ago I was lucky enough to be handed one of these processors. Running stable at 4.0GHz (1.256V) for over a year I would have to say that this processor delivers. My temp usually idles around 35-40C and gets around 75C under heavy stress (Prime95 Torture Test heavy) with just air cooling (Zalman CNPS9900ALED).

Being on my 6th or so processor/rig I would have to say that I have never experienced such reliability, as it has yet to crash or lockup.

Cons: Had to buy a new motherboard and ram when I won this processor... :P

Other Thoughts: Would I have paid $999 for this at the time? Not a chance.

Would I be willing to pay $999 for a new EE when a substantial upgrade is released? Definitely.

Though I didn't spring the house payment for this processor the reliability which I have experienced could sway me in the future to make such a purchase.

Great CPU

Pros: Fast with great OC potential.

Cons: Hot, I use a V10 with peltier. RAM, if you use substandard or standard RAM it can be problem just to get it to run. You need expensive sticks to OC but once you get a good tiple pair it clocks almost on par with a 920 without the loss of FSB speeds.

E.P.I.C

Pros: Amazing, I haven't had any problems with this so far. Owned it for almost two years without a single hiccup. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this product as I work in the IT field. Don't need to overclock the CPU to get amazing speeds and super responsive times.

Cons: NONE!

Other Thoughts: So fast that your motherboard only detects it at its native speed. Requires a bit of BIOS setup.

Very nice chip

Pros: Great performance.Nice over-clocker.All Intel EE chips are awesome, all around. If you are into testing bench marks, this one beats out the 980 on a few(only a few and not by much)Over all great chip, but see other thoughts

Cons: I cannot and will not take off an egg for price. When it comes to cons, this item does not have one...and if anyone gets a chip that has defaults,do not take off Eggs for that-meaning you should post a review about a working chip...too many complaints about next to nothing...people,when selecting a chip want to hear about the chips pros and cons, not shipping pros and cons, especially newer people who are thinking about their first build and are undecided on which chip to purchase.Intel needs to pay more attention about the way they price their products and be mindful about the price of their products with more and better technology coming.

Other Thoughts: Intel needs to come up with a better price scheme. This item has not went down in price(only occasional deals)for the better part of a year and a half.Since then 2 better chips have came out and Intel should have reduced the price of this guy for the consumer's sake.Yes,this is a superb chip but not superb enough for me to shell out this kind of money when I can get a i7 970 for $899 and also I just got an i7 950 for &199 plus tax($211).The bottum line is the consumer can get an a chip with almost the same performance for $150 less and another chip for $211 with almost the same features.I would suggest going with the i7 950 and get an OCZ Vertex 200gb Ssd and go with an Evga Gtx 570 for $369----after buying these 3 items you will still have money left over--about $60.I am not saying go out and get these exact items-what I am sinply saying is that this chip isnt worth the price thats being asked.IMO is worth no more than $600 especially with better technology out there and better coming

Save your cash and buy a 930

Pros: Unlocked chip, ran cool on water at high OC 4.6ghz

Cons: not very fast, my OC i7920 was faster then the 975 OC. might have been a bad batch of 975s but from what i had and tested i didnt like it and sold it the same month.

Other Thoughts: buy a 6core for the same price or just OC a i7 930.
