Question 1

Could this SSD help my computer run faster?

Accepted Answer

Yes, I replaced an old HDD (hard disk drive) and the read/write speeds are now 5x the previous drive. Boot up time is faster too. If you are trying to move your whole OS to the same computer, you would have to have the proper empty bay, power / data cables, and a means of software to clone the old drive. That depends on a person's technical ability; but was worth it for me to keep my business production PC operating, in lieu of a whole new computer and time of reinstalling applications.

Question 2

Does the SSD 1T|SAMSUNG MZ-77E1T0B/AM R perform as expected?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the Samsung 870 EVO SSD 1TB is designed to deliver excellent performance and reliability with sequential read/write speeds of up to 560/530 MBps.

Question 3

can I used this to upgrade my Thinkpad T430 HD? is this compatible

Accepted Answer

I used a Samsung 860 Evo (previous generation) on my T430. You won't reap ALL the benefits of its speed, but it certainly WILL improve boot times. This latest version should be compatible. HIGHLY recommended.

Question 4

Why doesn't this come with the SATA cable to connect to the motherboard?

Accepted Answer

Hard drives almost never come with a SATA cable. If you're replacing a HDD in a desktop then you already have a cable. If you'replacing the drive in a laptop, a SATA cable isn't required. You can buy a SATA cable when you purchase the drive if you need one. No need to be cheap

Question 5

Should I choose the 870 EVO or an NVMe SSD for extra storage?

Accepted Answer

Choose the 870 EVO if you need a 2.5-inch SATA drive or have no suitable NVMe slot available. If your system supports NVMe and the price is similar, Reddit users note that NVMe can be faster and may be better value; the 870 EVO is limited by its SATA interface to up to 560/530 MB/s sequential read/write.

Question 6

Is the Samsung 870 EVO 1TB good for gaming?

Accepted Answer

Yes, it is suitable as a SATA game-storage drive. A Reddit discussion describes it as adequate for gaming, while noting that a less expensive reputable SATA SSD may offer similar practical results. Its sequential speeds are capped by the SATA interface.

Question 7

Are there reliability concerns with the 870 EVO?

Accepted Answer

Reddit includes individual reports of failures and warranty claims, but these anecdotes do not establish how often failures occur. The provided product information lists 600 TBW and a five-year limited warranty; back up important files and check the drive’s health periodically.

Question 8

Is the 870 EVO worth paying extra for over another SATA SSD?

Accepted Answer

It can make sense if you specifically want this 2.5-inch SATA model, but the cited Reddit discussion says gaming performance among reputable SATA SSDs is generally similar. Compare prices and warranty terms rather than assuming the 870 EVO will make games load substantially faster.

Question 9

Will this 2.5-inch SSD work in my laptop or desktop?

Accepted Answer

It works in a computer with a compatible 2.5-inch SATA drive bay and SATA connection. Check your computer’s specifications or existing drive first: an M.2 NVMe-only slot is not compatible with this SATA drive.

Question 10

Is the 1TB 870 EVO suitable for everyday storage and regular computer use?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Its 1TB capacity suits operating-system files, applications, and everyday data storage. The listed endurance rating is 600 TBW, so it is designed for routine consumer use; it remains a SATA SSD with speeds up to 560/530 MB/s rather than a faster NVMe drive.
