Good, but..

Pros: Fast for the price, had problems with Samsung SSD's so tried this Western Digital Blue 2TB.

Cons: First one was DOA, but newegg sent a new one which has been working great for about 6 months. So that why 4 stars.

Other Thoughts: I am using this to store my Steam games on it.

Extremely Fast Drive and Consistent!

Pros: - Incredible amount of storage for an SSD, 2TB!
- Speed, Speed and Speed! This thing is blazingly fast and gives a lot of the competitors a run for their money. Boot times were consistent for several months on end despite utilizing over 2/3rds of capacity.
- Reliable and consistent. Again, while using this for several months on end this ssd held its ground with no hiccups whatsover.
- 3D NAND design. This is now the de-facto manufacturing standard for NAND memory due to its efficiency with regards to storage capacity and speed. VNAND is pretty much the same if advertised on other products.
- Setup was smooth. Acronis software is a nice touch and definitely gives you the control you need to monitor daily operations.
- 5 Year warranty (The drive will most likely outlive the warranty though but a 5 years is quite good for a SSD)

Cons: - None that I could fine other than the high price.

Other Thoughts: Numerous tests were done each month to confirm sequential read and write speeds and to gauge for consistency. I have only noticed a slight deviation of maybe anywhere from 10-20 MBps with regards to write speeds and 5-10 MBps with read speeds. That isn't that bad considering the drive had 1.35 TB of occupied memory cells. Advertised speeds are obviously not going to be met due to them being the theoretical speeds. You will be lucky to get upto 80-90% of that depending on the yields though that has been improved significantly over time.

- Best price to performance ratio
- Best warranty
- It just doesn't get any better than this

Cons: - None

Other Thoughts: Looking for a 2TB 3D NAND SATA III 6 Gb/s 2.5"/7mm SSD? Look no further. This is definitely the one you want. ;)

WD Blue 3D NAND 2TB PC SSD

Pros: The Western Digital Blue 3D NAND SATA SSD is the perfect drive for gamers, especially gamers on the go. SSDs are essential for anyone wanting quick load times, whether its booting up an operating system or starting up a massive AAA game. This little WD SSD does not disappoint. The prices for mass storage SSDs are still pretty high. However, 2TB of storage is necessary for anyone wanting to keep everything on a single drive at the same time keep load times down.

Cons: There are no cons for the device itself. However, most people may not want to pay this much for an SSD just yet. Combining a smaller SSD for the OS with a larger HDD for storage is a cheaper way to go, but load times on the HDD will be significantly higher. For example, take the latest DOOM game. It's notorious for long load times. Where a load time on an HDD can take a minute or two, a load time on this SSD will take seconds.

Other Thoughts: Even though Western Digital was late in the game with SSDs, they are still the top company for any type storage related drives in my opinion. The tests results prove its worth as a competent drive. The max tech specs for the drive are 560MB/s READ and 530MB/s Write. I ran three tests with three different benchmark tools. Here are the top results:

ATTO Disk Benchmark (256MB run)
READ = 558MB/s
WRITE = 532MB/s

Crystal Disk Mark (1GB x 3 run)
READ = 559MB/s
WRITE = 529MB/s

AS SSD Benchmark (1GB run)
READ = 520MB/s
WRITE = 470MB/s

As you can see, the number from the first two real world application come close to the max read/write as specified for the drive. The WD Blue 2TB SSD is what it says it is. Expect to get what you pay for. I highly recommend this SSD.

Fast Drive, Lot's of Storage, and Possibly Overkill

Pros: - 2TB of super fast storage. I tested this drive in 2 separate pc's. First in a laptop as a single drive to accommodate not only the OS but a good (pffft HUGE) chunk of my gaming library. Second was in my gaming desktop where it will stay. And let me tell you, it's nice to have a ton of games installed and still have a ridiculous amount of space left over.
- Speeeeed. This drive is super quick and even in the laptop there was no problem running both the OS and games on it.
- After a few weeks of heavy use it's still humming along with zero issues.

Cons: I legitimately have nothing I could put here. If I had to even grasp for something it would be that this drive is probably overkill for most users. Even for laptop gamers looking for a single drive solution 2TB is a lot of space. But if you need it, this is the drive to get the job done.

Other Thoughts: I've gotten to review a lot of SSD's. This is one of the few I was very excited to get my hands on. I do keep a considerable amount of games installed and I was tired of moving things off and on my previous 480GB drive. I have more installed now than I can even keep up with and still have 1.2TB's of free space. Had I been primarily a laptop gamer, this would have been a no-brainer for me. With that said though, unless you have an absolute need for this much space you'll probably be better off with one of the smaller capacity drives from this line up. WD built a solid and reliable product here; one I'm happy to own.

FAST for a storage drive.

Pros: - FAST compared to any other 2TB drive you'd pickup for storage (other than Samsung's 850 and up)
- Per WD, very high write endurance
- 2.5" form factor leaves room for more drives and possibly better airflow in the system
- WD brand name

Cons: - Expensive per GB compared to drives from Samsung, Plextor, Corsair, etc.
- Not as fast as PCIe solid state drives
- Not encryptable
- Warranty is only 3 years vs. 5 years for other brands

Other Thoughts: Not much to say here. I'd choose a faster / cheaper SSD than this for my OS, BUT if I needed a fast STORAGE drive, this is what I would use. Minus an egg for the high price.

Fast and large

Pros: It not only gave me the numbers advertised, some were slightly better.

Drive runs 3°C warmer than room temperature after a 400GB file transfer.

New architecture keeps the drive very cool while using very little power.

WD SSD software is very useful and easy to use, you can even run trim whenever you want. (however the original Sandisk version of it has more tools and is almost identical.)

500TBW endurance rating far above most

3 year warranty.

LDPC error correction on a Marvell 4 channel controller

Cons: None that can be spoken of, other than the drive is not much to look at if you are running an open case with it visible.

Other Thoughts: Crystaldiskmark on my I-7700K PC running a Gigabyte Designaire MB with 64GB of Corsair Vengance RGB DDR4 3200.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CrystalDiskMark 5.5.0 x64 (UWP) (C) 2007-2017 hiyohiyo
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
* MB/s = 1,000,000 bytes/s [SATA/600 = 600,000,000 bytes/s]
* KB = 1000 bytes, KiB = 1024 bytes

Sequential Read (Q= 32,T= 1) : 560.651 MB/s
Sequential Write (Q= 32,T= 1) : 531.653 MB/s
Random Read 4KiB (Q= 32,T= 1) : 357.427 MB/s [ 87262.5 IOPS]
Random Write 4KiB (Q= 32,T= 1) : 313.701 MB/s [ 76587.2 IOPS]
Sequential Read (T= 1) : 533.554 MB/s
Sequential Write (T= 1) : 506.068 MB/s
Random Read 4KiB (Q= 1,T= 1) : 42.004 MB/s [ 10254.9 IOPS]

Date : 2017/10/31 21:40:16
OS : Windows 10 [10.0 Build 16299] (x64)

And on HD Tune it did not fair as well as my SanDisk only getting 389MB/s compared to 465MB/s The WD does great on smaller file sizes but chokes a bit on Larger files compared to my sandisk. However my Sandisk only scored 510 and 490 on the Crystaldiskmark Q= 32,T= 1 test.

HD Tune: WDC WDS200T2B0A-00SM Benchmark

Transfer Rate Minimum : 373.5 MB/sec
Transfer Rate Maximum : 389.6 MB/sec
Transfer Rate Average : 380.6
Access Time : 0.1ms
Burst Rate : 177.6 MB/sec
CPU Usage : 1.6%

Overall if Gaming or most using it as a place to store small files with large capacity and high speed this is the best drive for it. If you need large space for massive files and high speed is a must another drive might be better suited.

WD Blue 3D NAND 2TB PC SSD - SATA III 6 Gb/s 2.5"/7mm Solid State Drive - WDS200T2B0A

Pros: 3 year warranty
2 terabytes
3D Nand
500TBW Endurance rating

Cons: wish it was an NVME drive, as I would love one of those! :)
and I'm not gonna try and say this is worth it for the price
as $619 is alot for a SATA SSD drive. I'm mean yes it's 2 tb
but I really think 3D Nand would perform faster on NVME.
as SATA is limited to a max speed of 6 Gigabits per second.
Where as NVME is built for SSD drives.

Other Thoughts: Test system:
Intel I7 7700K
ASRock Fata1ity Z270 Gaming K6
Corsair Vengeance RGB 4x 8GB

Seq read: 558.89
Seq write: 529.96 MB/s

Very happy with this drives performace
