Is this an internal hard drive, and is it compatible with windows HP?

This hard drive is NOT and SATA drive, it's an IDE interface. It's suitable for older computers which have only an IDE/ATA hard drive interface available. It works just fine on Windows XP as long as you have "LBA" support enabled on your motherboard. I just bought one for a friend's 10 year old Gateway whose drive was failing and it's working very quietly and very well.
