Pros:
Price was nice, got a combo deal with motherboard that I wanted anyway
16 threads = amazing linux workflow
Cons: Would have liked to have saved a little $ by not having to buy with included cooler but it was a shell shocker combo savings so I had to jump on it.
Other Thoughts:
Easy overclocking tho i admit I am working with only 3600 mhz at the moment with 1.25v vcore as the only change in bios
Immensely more power efficient than the fx8350 system is replaced.
Slightly Higher idle temps than fx8350 but much lower maximums.
Idles at about 12-15c up to about 40deg c at full load above ambient with a 280m corsair h110 aio
Pros:
CPU does a good job chewing through most all but the hardest computational tasks.
I haven't overclocked it too much, but seemed to hit 3700 without much effort.
Included CPU fan is very quiet unless you manually spin it up to 100%, and even then it is still just audible, but not distracting.
Cons: The thermal compound that comes with the included heatsink is sufficient. You'll want to replace with a good quality thermal compound like the Noctua NT-H1 and that'll bring the temps down a few more degrees C.
Pros: I love the fact that AMD is competitive again, this is good for everyone no matter what setup you are looking to buy. This CPU at 65 watt TDP sips the power relatively speaking. I used it with an EVGA CLC280 AIO cooler and it runs cool and quiet. I can overclock the particular chip I got to around 3.8 without much effort. Beyond that I need some voltage increases to get it into the 3.85 - 3.9 territory. I have not been able to get my chip beyond 4.0 stable but I am happy with it at 3.8 with the price I paid and how it performs.
Cons: The single threaded IPC for the first gen Ryzen left a tiny bit to be wanted... multiple tests I have ran showed with it running overclocked at 3.8Ghz I am in the territory of 5th-6th gen Intel i7 line. My previous rig was an Intel Xeon-1270V3 running with a slight overlock to the FSB and the Ryzen 1700 is about on par to that chip which was basically the same as an i7 4770. But multi threaded performance is where this chip embarrassed Intel's offerings and that is why I needed it.
Other Thoughts: I recommend this chip especially because of the platform upgrade it can potentially offer you if you are coming from an AMD or Intel DDR2/DDR3 platform. With an updated AMD setup you get the benefit of also having peace of mind of being able to drop in 2nd and potentially 3rd gen Ryzen offerings to your motherboard and platform as well. A very good CPU for the money. Its a game changer!
Pros:
A real live RYZEN processor that will run Win7 and AMD actually has drivers to support it!
Outrageously fast and stable w/o overclocking.
Handles anything you can throw at it effortlessly.
Cons: Originally bought a Gigabyte Aorus board for this, but even after days of slipstreaming drivers into the Win7 installer, would still not load. Stuck the board on a shelf and got an MSI Carbon Pro board w/ PS/2 ports and the slipstramed installer worked like a charm. Installed Windows 7 Ultimate in just minutes and then loaded the driver CD and the system was fully functional. Added an MSI Radeon RX Vega 64 video card and a WD 1TB NVME M.2 drive and this rig is a total beast.
Other Thoughts: For anyone looking for a Ryzen system that'll load Win7, this was the perfect choice. All the benefits of a killer Ryzen CPU without having to use Win 10 and it's incessant "Phone home ET", telemetry. Now a few of my friends are bugging me to build one for them as soon as they can save up the $$.
Pros: 16 threads at a reasonable cost. Passmark of 13500+. You won't need more than this fr quite a while.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: I started with a Ryzen 3 1200. I got the same motherboard with a Ryzen 7 1700 elsewhere and the same speed ram 3200mhz from Newegg. I liked the cpu so much I waned to replace the Ryzen 3. The place where I got the first Ryzen 7 1700 ran out of sock. New Egg had this great sale and I was able to get another Ryzen 7 1700 for them for $181 shipped. Now I have almost identical systems except for the video cards. Nothing eases frustration more than consistent good performance.
Pros:
fast cpu for just 65w at 3.8Ghz
8 core 16 threads
i got this cpu + Asus B450-f for just 450$ CAD compare to intel 8700K only the damn cpu is 459$
intel is just wast of money.
Thank you AMD for the amazing feature of StoreMI i got my HDD 5Tb running with my 256 M.2 at 4500Mb/s read and 2500Mb/s write.
Cons: none
Pros: Good processor
Cons: The fans screws dont align with my asus x470 pro motherboard

Pros: Bought this one year ago and it is still going strong. I used to have an intel i5 skylake processor in my computer with a 1060 and would get constant stuttering in games, even in csgo. I cant remember what i5 I had but all I knew is that I payed like $250 for something that struggled at the simple stuff. I got this cpu as soon as it dropped due to its power draw, price, and performance and it blew me away. I love the Ryzen processors and have built many computers for my friends and have used Ryzen on all of them and I got no complaints at all from them, even with the Ryzen 1200. Another thing I love is that you don't need to pay extra to be able to overclock it which is a big plus compared to Intel where for some reason they make you pay extra for it.
Cons: I don't really know how to overclock well but when I did it with the stock cooler for some reason battlefield 1 audio bugged out but it may just be the game and my inexperience.
Other Thoughts: I would defiantly recommend it to others.
