I want to replace my spinner C: drive with this SSD. Does it come with cloning software? Is it possible to clone my C: onto this and then just switch cables?

Yes you can clone your drive but it does not come with software.  I used EaseUS Todo free backup software to clone my original drive to this one.  It worked great.

What is the max ram this drive can handle? 
It is handling 16gb ram - once i put in 32 it won't load windows

Hello Brandon,

If you are having issues loading Windows after installing extra memory, it could be one of two things:

1) the extra memory you added is defective
-Please troubleshoot but checking each individual stick on each DIMM slot of the board.  If all the slots work on the first stick, keep checking until you can confirm all the stick provide a POST.

2) one or more of the DIMM slots are malfunctioning
-If you confirmed all 4 sticks work, then you probably encountered a faulty slot by the time you got to this point.

The SSD has nothing to do with loading Windows successfully unless the drive itself becomes corrupted or stops working altogether.  It is best to try again with the previous memory configuration you had to see if it works like before.  It is likely to still work with the 16GB originally installed so if adding the extra memory causes the problem to persist, then it is either the new memory or your board's slots.

I also recommend reaching out to the motherboard and memory manufacturers to get assistance with troubleshooting and determining what is at fault, hope this helps!

I have a TOSHIBA C55D-B5203 laptop AMD A8 processor with a hard drive that is at 100% disk usage every time I start it up. The hard drive in this thing tends to crawl like crazy. Can I clone my hard drive to this SSD and get a better performance out of this?

I have a number of SSD's and the WD is a good value and is perceived as fast as any of them.  If you are moving up to an SSD from a hard disk you will be impressed.  Cloning the disk should be no problem if you have the software.  You can use Windows image backup to clone -- I have had success with this method on all the upgrades I have done with that method.

Will this working on Dell Laptop Inspiron 15 5558, Intel i7?

More than likely check the dimensions of the bay in the laptop and also that the laptop has sata a connection   . I had an ssd in a very old Lenovo Idea Pad . Performance will be determined by  sata connection on laptop usualy they will be sata 2 or 3 sata 1 are first generation and have faded away .

Does this come with any cables?

No it does not.  However you can do a search for 'SSD USB Cable' and use this drive as a large USB Flash Drive.  If you are going to install it in a laptop you do not need any cables.   If you are replacing a drive in a PC, the existing cables will work.  Finally if you are installing it as a additional drive in a PC you will need to get cables.  If you do a search on Newegg 'SATA Cables', you will have plenty of option from which to choose.

Hi, anyone know if this is compatible with a Dell Inspiron 13-5378?  I intend to replace the 1TB disk drive.

I have not found the WD SSD's to be incompatible with any model of PC.  When they were first put on the market when 64 GB cost $1,200.00 there were some issues with older computers.  But nothing in the last 5 - 10 years.

Never had a problem with this SSD. Didn't change anything reference sata II or sata III.
III might be better since it is the latest.

3D NAND flash offers the potential for higher capacity in a smaller physical space than 2D NAND. ... Although manufacturers take different approaches to build 3D NAND flash technology, the program/erase process to write data to a 3D NAND cell and a planar NAND cell is essentially the same. There are longevity differences between 2D and 3D NAND, but again it goes back to if you're constantly writing large files to your SSD.

Will this work for a Lenovo Yoga-520?

It should according to what I found out about Lenovo Yoga-520 it came with a 512GB SSD from what I saw. You would need to backup or take a snapshot of the old drive, I suggest Macruim Reflect as it's free but good. It allows you to backup to an external HD or a network location. You would install Macrium Reflect and run the backup from within Windows. You will need a USB Thumb drive to make a Bootable drive using Macrium Reflect tools. Once you have a good backup image of your old drive you can remove and replace it with the new 1TB drive. Then you simple boot from the Thumb drive you created with Macrium Reflect and restore your image to the new drive. Be sure to change the size of the partition on the new drive so you get the 1TB. If you don't resize it will be a exact copy and size of the old drive. Once you have restored your image to the new drive you will remove the thumb drive and reboot. If you did it correctly everything should be just as it was exceot you will have more room. Macrium Reflect backs up everything your OS all your prograns and data.
