With eight internal native ports, 12 Gbps SAS speed and PCI Gen3 x8 host interface, the Adaptec 8805 RAID adapter delivers exceptional performance, advanced data protection and maximum scalability to meet today's applications that demand high I/O transaction and high bandwidth processing. And with LP/MD2 form factor with both half- and full-height brackets included, this adapter card can easily integrated into various systems.
Pros: Exactly as advertised. Works.
Cons: Requires 200 CFM airflow over the heatsink. Why they don't toss a cheap fan on it I don't know. But it's required. Do not overlook cooling on this thing. Pretty sure it has caused corruption in my past. I put this as a con because: sold 'as is' means it can't keep itself within operating temperatures. They even put a slip in the box saying it requires a fan. -_-
Overall Review: This is yet another Adaptec card we are using. Works great. Doing a raid 5 even though it would have been funner to do a raid 0. Using 5 ssd's on the card and 1 on the motherboard for database and indexes. It flies with our 6700k 4.8Ghz cpu. Plowing through hundreds of gigabytes of data in mere hours.
