Does this CPU come with thermal paste or a thermal pad for the cooler?

It does come with thermal paste already applied. The cooler also is much better than prior AMD coolers. Using the stock cooler and thermal paste, I have mine up from 3.1ghz to 3.9ghz on all cores. Stress test it stays around 70c and the cooler isn't very loud.

Does this have a GPU built in like the older AMD APUs? Or will I need to get a separate Graphics Card?

I tested this myself actually. No, it does not include integrated graphics, and you will need a separate graphics card. The expected release of the Zen APUs is mid-2018.

Does this support DDR3?

The short answer is no the older ddr3 motherboards lack support for the new am4 socket that is on the R3 1200. but the money spent  on the new ram mother board and CPU is more than worth it the CPU is faster because of the new multi di cache array and the move to break away from the old bulldozer design that held them back from beating Intel and the clock speed max is rang I easly got mine to 3.9ghz without any issue

LGA stands for Land Grid Array and is specific to Intel processors only.  Ryzen 3 processors have 1331 pins in a PGA configuration.

Question 7

For anyone who knows, how does this processor handle workloads outside of gaming, such as 3D modeling software, physic simulations, animations and Hi-res rendering (preferably 4K)?

This is a 4 core processor, and my understanding of those work loads is core count matters. Even beyond core count, you'd struggle to safely overclock this thing past 3.9ghz so single threaded performance is behind intel.

Zen 2, not Zen +, is only a 2-3 months out. I'd wait or plan to upgrade when that drops. The Ryzen 3 that will replace this is rumored to have a 6 cores, a higher clock speed, ipc, and energy efficiency at the $130 price point so unless you're on a super tight budget and need something now, wait and spend more on the cpu.

I see stories that involve getting a separate graphics card in order for the computer to boot. Will it work without a separate graphics card or will I need one?

Yes, this CPU needs a separate GPU, I struggle myself with this issue. And not only in one motherboard, is all of them. All the motherboards that say support this CPU, yes is true, but using an external video card.

As others have mentioned, an AM4 motherboard like the B350M Pro or the B360 Bazooka should be sufficient.  I would also suggest maybe the ASRock AB350M if you are looking for a budget minded motherboard option as it is currently one of our least expensive boards that will support this CPU.

I have Intel RAM, and I’ll be honest, they don’t play too nice. If it’s just simple daily use, you’ll never see a problem, but for gaming, you might run into some issues.

Check with your Motherboard Manufacturer on their website for that board to see if your specific memory kit is compatible. If it’s on the list, go for it, even if it is Intel. That means the motherboard manufacturer tested it and that kit works well with Ryzen.
