Does this processor/cooler come with thermal paste?

Yes, the thermal paste is pre-applied onto the cooler. Though I would proceed with caution when removing the cooler at a later date, if/when you get a new cooler. The thermal paste AMD uses is extremely sticky and may pull out your processor from your motherboard. I personally removed the pre-applied paste and used my own.

Have a few ?s i am running a Windows 7 system with a AMD FX-8350  and Gigabyte board and Nvidia Geforce GTX960.. If I upgrade to this new chip AMD RYZEN 7 2700X 8-Core 3.7 GHz  can I still use my save motherboard and ram and the Nvidia Geforce GTX960?? AND WIN 7

I don't believe you can keep the same motherboard. Ryzen is an X370/470 AM4 slot. The FX-8350 is an AM3+. I don't believe an AM4 processor will work in your motherboard. Also, even if it could, you would be losing a lot of the benefit of the new processor. You will still be able to use your GTX960 though. The RAM would also need to be changed because you currently have DDR3 and the 2700x (and 1700x) use DDR4.

TL;DR: no, you can't use a ryzen with your old motherboard/RAM, but you can keep the GTX960.

As far as I know, no. AMD doesn't offer tray/OEM parts. If you could find one it'd likely be secondhand and come without warranty. If you could find one, odds are it wouldn't be substantially cheaper anyhow as the Wraith Prism cooler doesn't add a whole lot to the BOM of the box part.

No, unless you are looking at some specific bundle deal with RAM, this is just the CPU and its included cooler.

Will it run on a MSI gaming Plus x370?

Very likely it would, as most if not all AM4 boards have received UEFI updates to support 2nd Gen Ryzen.  However, if you currently don't own the board and older CPU, you would need to verify with the vendor the UEFI is updated to support the 2700X or have a way to flash it.  Otherwise, you wouldn't be able to POST.

Question 6

Looking to upgrade my AIO water cooler for the 2700x, currently using the CORSAIR Hydro Series H60 (I got it free with my case.) While it's decent/good I'd like better cooling performance and mounting method. Any suggestions?

It all depends on your case,  and how much you intend to overclock.  I have a 280mm kraken by nzxt, and my friend is happy with his Corsair h150i.  I would wait for Asus Ryu or ryuigin, it has a vacuum system that cools vrams too.  Hope this helps.  Also, check out these coolers being reviewed by jayztwocents or websites such as tomshardware.  Be aware that if you use Asus mobo, Asus aura does not get along with nzxt and Corsair rgb controls, since asus' up and coming also use aura, it should work seamlessly.  Read up on that too. .. hope this helps

In the specs it only lists 2933 for Memory, surely this isn't correct currently I run 2400 with my 1600x and was thinking of upgrading to this. Would I have to upgrade RAM to or would my 2400 work? Surely that isn't the only Memory clock that would work

does this processer need liquid cooling or is the prism cooler good enough?

Been running this CPU for a while now, and the included air cooler is fine, even playing the latest Tomb Raider game and doing a lot of of video rendering. The only issue was getting the cooler to set correctly when installing it, as the clips were rather stiff. Be mindful of that when installing the heat sink and fan. Once installed, however, the CPU has running cool  and I have not seen the need to over clock it at all. Performance of the CPU has been good.

If you're talking about VR games, there is no feature-specific hardware requirement.  The only concern would be maintaining a minimum framerate for comfortability.  This is a solid processor capable of doing just that as long as the video card is also strong (probably at least GTX 1060-1080?).  So in a sense, yes, it is VR ready.

Is it better to pair a Ryzen with an AMD Video card or will a GTX/RTX by Nvidia do well also?

You will be fine either way when using a Ryzen 2700X.  Running a GTX 970 with mine currently.  Works great.  Just bought an RTX 2060 to install soon as well for an upgrade.   There is no extra benefit I'm aware of to specifically match a Ryzen CPU with AMD GPU.  Either card you look at should be fine.
