Pros: Why get this instead of one of the cheaper sempron 64s? 2 reasons: 1) 9x multiplier, much better than the 8x, if you are going to overclock. 2) Cool and Quiet. Sempron 64s below this one don't have it. Sure you have to download a utility at the amd site to enable it, but that's easy. I don't think they allow links in these reviews, so just google "cool and quiet sempron explained" Choose the first link, it should go to hardwaresecrets. Follow the instructions. You'll now have a cooler and quieter system.
Cons: People will think you have a cheap chip because of the small cache, and you may end up wasting time explaining to them that cache may make a few percentage points difference on the charts, but you don't care because you just ended up with a chip near half the cost of their Athlon64s.
Overall Review: Don't bother spending any more than this though on a Sempron, because then you are approaching Althon64 territory, and you might as well spring for one of those if you're going to spend much more. Literally the perfect balance of power/performance and price at the moment - grab one before they're all gone! (overclocked to 2.25 -- 14 hours of prime95, rock stable -- with stock hsf. 31-37 degrees idle, in the low 60's full load in a SFF case with lousy ventilation. It could easily go higher, but why bother?)
