AMD Sempron LE-1100 Sparta Single-Core 1.9 GHz Socket AM2 45W SDH1100DEBOX Processor

Pros: Flies for basic Windows usage, simple multitasking, etc. Sips power at 45W TDP, and runs at 14-16C idle and doesn't crest 23C at full continuous load - a tad nicer than my Phenom 9850's 38C idle, 60C full load. Coolest running processor I've ever used, hands down. Even does fine for CS:S and the like.

Cons: I wouldn't try playing UT3 or Crysis on this thing. Only 256K of L2. Not my Phenom 9850 BE? If you're looking for serious cons for a chip this awesome at this price point, you're deluded.

Overall Review: Paired this with a PC Chips A15G for a customer to replace a Pentium 4 HT 2.8GHz and Intel 915GM mobo. Absolutely demolishes that old Netburst piece of junk, even in multitasking. Performs noticeably better than my old Athlon 64 3400+ rig, which is pretty impressive given the 300MHz clockspeed drop and having 1/4th the L2 cache.

Pros: Budget build for a customer using the Sparta chip. Pleasantly surprised, not bad at all for the price! OC at a stable 2.4GHz with stock cooler. Got a 5.5 rating using Vista Premium OS. Passed all stress tests 100% without errors. Not designed for modern hardcore gaming or demanding graphics applications. Performs pretty well with games like WoW, UT, Quake... and perfect for everyday web surf, photoshop, email computer use! If your on the market for the Best/Cheapest CPU... This is the Ticket!

Cons: AMD does Not include Case Badge stickers with the purchase of their Retail Box Processors anymore :(

Overall Review: I was quite surprised at how well this processor worked with Vista Premium! Worked especially well after the overclock.

Overall Review: Basic cpu for a basic system. K8M800 mobo, 2 gig kingston ram. Works well out of the package.

Pros: Perfect CPU for basic tasks and internet. Very low power consumption. Cool N Quiet Technology works great. Competitively priced.

Overall Review: I've also built an Intel system with a Celeron 420. The Sempron system is quite similar in both performance and power consumption to the Intel system. The two systems have near identical hardware specs. Both idle at 50 watts, both are just powerful enough to play Hulu video at fullscreen (1280x1024), and neither top 75 watts when under full CPU/IGP load. The only real difference between the two? The AMD system was slightly cheaper to build.

Pros: Put this into a Biostar NF520-A2 motherboard and it's running great. Installed XP in the usual 25~30 minutes.

Cons: None whatsoever !

Overall Review: Perfect for that kid who isn't doing anything particularly intensive anyway. I think my 4 year old is gonna love it.

Pros: Easily sufficient for a basic surfing, office apps, and email box. And the Cool'n'Quiet technology means it'll save even more power with a supporting motherboard. And only thirty-five clams? Are you kidding?

Cons: At this price? Nuthin'!

Overall Review: Running in an Asus M2N-MX SE board. With fan temp controls in BIOS enabled and CPU fan set for minimum starting voltage (4.0v) it is essentially inaudible. Heatsink doesn't even get warm to the touch.

Pros: Great CPU for the price. It benches just a tad slower than Intel's cheapest counterpart Celeron Conroe-L 420 @ 1.6 GHz in all synthetic tests. Intel system is based on P965 chipset and AMD is based on 690 chipset in benchmarks. It is obviously inferior to Conroe architercure on clock for clock basis but for the price, it's your best bet for a general purpose computer or a small server.

Overall Review: Build a system using this chip! I recommend it. This is coming from an Intel fan of many years.
