So far, so good 7/28/2020 8:27:49 AM

Pros: Bought as a less-expensive option for ai exploration with a CUDA-capable card. So far, so good.

Cons: Lights...really, how old is your market, 12?

Overall Review: Recommended

Never had such problems with cooling 3/28/2020 2:47:03 PM

Pros: Probably good value for the money. If I could build it, I'd know. Because ASRock is least responsible for this issue, I've only dinged them two stars.

Cons: Can't seem to find a way to put a cooler on it.

This is mostly ThermalTakes fault, but AMD, ASRock, and I all contributed to it, and I'm pretty ticked at all of them. The CPU arrived without at heatsink. (It prominently says that none is included--now.) So I went to to a certain store nearby, rather than wait. BIG mistake. neither the sales guy nor the tech knew what they were about, but I decided to rely on the "universal AMD cooler" text on the package and get a Frio 14. It was after i got back home that I discovered the need for an adapter. So I got on the Thermatake website and ordered it. Turns out it's just their stock brackets with additional holes drilled out, in such a way I'm not sure they're secure.

Annnnnd.....It doesn't fit. Look at the picture of ASRock's mobo: those two capacitors next to the RAM bank are in the way. Not only that, but what are the screws supposed to lock into? The motherboard comes with a backplate, but I'm supposed to use the one from Thermatake... which doesn't have any nuts.

I did (Update: NOT DO) my due diligence. I read reviews, I researched for compatibility, I found nothing about this when I first ordered (early October). I'm going on a month with my system parts lying around the room, and I'm not happy.

Overall Review: Can't recommend yet. May update when built.

UPDATE: Bumped it an egg. I did not do the research I should have. Put a Deepcool on it:
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835856005 Works fine... but watch the memory compatibility -- check the mfg website!

UPDATE 2: TWO YEARS LATER: Hard drive controllers are failing, and may have fried my SSD. Skipping ASRock this time. Had forgotten about the cooler hell I went through last time, and rechecking this review brought it back.

my asrock x370 runs like a clock! 11/29/2019 10:57:02 PM

Pros: I bought this board cuz it had many features, lots of usb ports including type-C and it supports Creative soundBlaster Cinema3. i'm running a AMD Ryzen 5 cpu, with a xfx gpu at 8gb, with 32 gb of corsair ram, and for drives I have a 512 ssd, and a Seagate firecuda 2terabyte drive. my computer runs like a clock! I've used Gigabyte and MSI.. this board so far has been my favorite
FYI Its been 15 years since I've built a new custom computer and this is number 15!

Overall Review: I will by asrock boards again.

They have no support. 5/25/2019 12:55:33 PM

Pros: I like the board, it works well with a 1700x processor. This is my first AMD board with new AMD Ryzen processor and its really fast! No support, I will never buy from ASRock again.

Cons: Socket for CPU needs improvement.

Overall Review: Zero support from ASRock support. Application support from ASRock non-existent, I will never buy ASRock products again.

• Test with onboard video (CPU with APU or test with VGA card).
• Connect the monitor.
• Plug the 24 + 8 or 4 pins ATX power.

Pros: Great board overall. I had to return the board due to a bad ethernet port. Nothing that a network card wouldn't fix, but paying a reasonable sum of money I want it to work as designed. Currently waiting for them to process the board exchange. I will update the review after receiving and slamming that baby in.

Cons: I was one of the unfortunate people destined to receive a faulty board.

UPDATED - My first ASRock board 1/12/2019 12:46:30 PM

Pros: Runs great until it bluescreens. Drivers easy to find / install. Basic tuning and temp seems solid. Looks good in a windowed case. Support response was prompt, no runaround. Lots of upgrade options, since it will take Ryzen 2nd gen.

Cons: Board silkscreen and manual could have done a better job on identifying connectors (front panel header in particular).

UPDATE: Ran into stability issues with intermittent bugchecks in Windows 10 with latest BIOS (even crashes in SysRescueCD and Win10 setup screens after booting from Microsoft disc with no third-party drivers loaded). Checked memory timing in CPU-Z and system passes full Memtestx86 x2. No errors, stalls or bluescreens running CPU-Z stress or Prime95 stress. Sometimes bluescreens during Win10 startup, other times loads and runs for hours (including games ) without a problem. Contacted ASRock support and they quickly agreed to RMA due to a hardware issue. Since then, I found reports on the ASRock forums referencing stability issues when specific RAM slots were used on Fatality X370 series motherboards. I swapped RAM to the A1 and B1 slots and stability is better, but still not perfect, so proceeding with RMA.

Overall Review: Other components: CORSAIR HX Series HX750, RYZEN 5 1600, G.SKILL Flare X 18Gb DDR4 2400 x2, MSI GeForce GTX 1050, Win10. No OC attempt as yet (not the most aggressive build for that anyway).

For background, I have built at least 30 systems prior to this one
