Pros: You’ve probably already read all the benchmarks, or you wouldn’t be looking to spend $500 on a graphics card, so I’ll skip the spec and frame rate stuff. The card is definitely fast, almost freakishly fast, and handles 2560x1440 no problem. What makes this particular Asus DC card so good I think is the quality of the board itself, and the cooling. It doesn’t have the fastest OC, but it’s a well-built board that gives you noise and cooling headroom to do what you see fit with, and you can use that headroom for higher clocks. The fans are quiet, basically silent at idle and have a hushed sound signature similar to Noctuas, mine is silent at idle from 3 ft or farther. Load noise is fairly good too, especially with the easy going sound signature. Temps are incredible. Using them in an FT02 so they are vertical (supposedly can be problematic) and I get temps below 50c playing Skyrim @WQHD and it is smooth as butter. That amazes me because my previous GTX560Ti ran way hotter (70ish) and was stuttering and dropping frames all over the place. This is my first high-end card, and it’s very impressive. As stated, build quality is spectacular. The back board is solid, heat sink well designed, and huge amount of attention put into the PCB. I wish every hardware manufacturer took as much pride in workmanship as Asus. If they keep on putting this kind of quality into things, I will keep buying them. GTX780s are amazing cards, but this is something even more special. In 30 years of computing, possibly one of the nicest pieces of hardware I’ve ever held. I feel very lucky to have it in my system.
Cons: Cons: Well, I hate telling bad stories, but this is important for consumer awareness, so here it goes… My first card had to be RMAed due to really bad fan noise – basically sounded like a toothpick was caught in the fan. Either a blade was hitting something or the bearing was bad. When the replacement card arrived, something was very different about the box – both ends were sealed with stickers this time. The first box had both ends already opened (even a tear in one of the tabs) but I didn’t think anything of it at the time. The fact that the first GPU had an opened box and bad fan tells me something was not right. I don’t know if it was a previously RMAed board, or raided for parts, switched out, etc… but let me be clear that when a customer pays $500 for a piece of high end hardware, he deserves better than to be given opened and sub-standard materials. This has happened to me before with a New Egg competitor. I thought New Egg was better than that. I don’t know if this is systematic of the industry, but it’s a regrettable way to conduct business. If there is a silver lining to this cloud it is the New Egg employee Channel who expedited shipping on the replacement card and was really great to deal with. This review would be missing more eggs if it wasn’t for Channel’s great service and friendly attitude. It seems that once you actually talk to a human, there is usually someone at New Egg who will set things right.
Overall Review: Conclusion: Some iffy service initially from NewEgg, but a very helpful employee named Channel sorted it out, and NewEgg still has my loyalty. The card is incredible. If you’re looking at getting a GTX780, get this. The slightly higher clocks you see on other cards you can achieve for free with Precision/Afterburner… don’t pay for Ghz, pay for quality/cooling/silence and use that headroom to get the Ghz back.
Pros: 1. Custom 10 layer PCB 2. 10mm main heat pipe and all heat pipes are in direct contact with GPU 3. Card reinforcement and full back plate 4. Upgraded power regulation with super alloy 5k caps, 8 super alloy chokes and to many mosfets to count. 5. Voltage-monitoring points (LED) 6. Easily removable cooler for water cooling blocks 7. Impeller fan design to both push cool air over the cooler while pulling hot air out from the cooler. 8. Samsung memory instead of Elpida
Cons: 1. Lower stock over clock is some what a con. (see below) 2. Not labeled as a ROG product
Overall Review: True this card is not highly OCed. Yet there is a good reason why. Since GPU 2 accounts both voltage and temperature. The stock OC gives you more overall head room and performance. Now this card is built to be over clocked and pushed to the extreme of what GTX 780s can do. Seeing that ROG is all about being the best of the best in both performance and built quality. I truly believe this model should have that badge.
Pros: Overclocked this card to 200MHZ+ Overclocked memory to 1000MHZ+ Card is so well cooled, fan never has to go full speed Been playing like every game known to man on 6050x1080 (3 screens with bezel correction) MAX SETTINGS with single card! Card comes with built in Asus overclocking utility. All you have to do is move a slider to the right. EASY.
Cons: None.
Overall Review: Well since NVIDIA decided they were gonna delay the 800 series into 2015, and the price of this dropped, I decided it was time to buy another for SLI :). Seeing as two cards in SLI from previous generation easily beat the following generation I should be good for all games til at least late 2016. Or let's put it this way. Since this card easily overclocks way better than a TITAN. I'm playing games with performance that is better than 2 TITANS in SLI for less than a single TITAN CARD!
Pros: I've been really satisfied with this card since I first bought it and put together my new rig. The claims are real, and I definitely like that fact that this card offers better cooling, and is a lot quieter. Lets face it, I remember watching a video of a *REFERENCE* R9 290X, and it sounded like a jet engine on 100% fan duty, and was still hitting thermals of over 95C. This card however tells a completely different story. At 100% fan duty, I hit while playing Metro: Last Light at most 60C (room temperature=21C) !!! This is at 1080P and all filters and qualities maxed out. I also had memory clocked at 7008Mhz and the boost clock at 1050Mhz. Even with this overclock on mem and core, this card performed as it was designed to, stay cool, stay quiet. Even with sound blocking headphones my friend could here a screech on the fans of his EVGA acx cooler. He couldn't even set his fan duty pass 65% without the screech being noticable, imagine what it would sound like at 100%. This thing is the champ of 1080p gaming. Any game I throw at it, this thing will come out on top asking for more. I think I will soon have to purchase a 1440p monitor and then see how it stacks up against other competitors.
Cons: None
Overall Review: I would recommend this graphics card to anyone looking for smooth high end gaming at 1080p, with low power consumption and amazing performance in a bundle. This card is the King Forever live the PC Master Race!
Pros: Performance: Handles everything i throw at it like a champ at it; I've yet to find anything i can't run on ultra settings with good frame-rates. Cooling: When they say the cooling works well on this card, they mean it; even under full load and with moderate overclocking, my card doesn't even reach 70 degrees Celsius, even after hours of gaming, so i never even have to worry about hitting any temperature limits.(i also have a large case with great airflow, which i'm sure contributes) Noise: I barely notice the sound of this card; it's barely louder than my nice cooler-master case fans, so there's no problem here.(My H100i CPU cooler and my HDD end up being the only things in my build that are loud) Design; this card has a nice red and black color scheme that goes with my case and leds, and the backplate on the card keeps the inside of my PC looking sleek, as well as keeping the card sturdy.
Cons: Price: i got mine a month and a half ago, before the price-drop :p I don't regret it though. The new price is more reasonable for the performance you'll get, especially with the free games. I'm not sure if it's a con, but I've only been able to do moderate overclocking. Of course, I'm not very experienced with overclocking anyway, so I won't hold that against the card.
Overall Review: Definitely a good choice. I'll be picking up a second one soon. This is just some general knowledge: The type of cooler that comes with this card is the kind that dumps the heated air into your case, so be sure you have some decent air-intake/exhaust to remove it efficiently. If you're going to use a very slim case without a lot of airflow, then you may want to consider the blower-style cooler that the 780 normally comes with, which sucks in air and blows it out the back of the case.
Pros: - Keeps extremely cool - It's incredible how cooled off this card will stay under load. I run Battlefield 4 at ultra settings with not hiccups and it stays roughly 52C. - Noise level is minimal - Even at full fan speed the card remains fairly silent. Now I'm not sure what others may consider quiet but personally it stays very quiet. It is audible yes, but not even noticable if you're consentrated on something. - Runs anything you throw at it - First thing I did when I finished my build was download and load up Battlefield 4. Cranked it all right up to ultra settigns and it is playing every map with the max number of players with zero interruptions. - Software it comes with is simple and very useful - Most people hate bloatware but the GPU Tweak program that the card come with is very useful and easy to use for anyone. - Card is huge - Now I know some may be confused why I put this as a pro so let me explain. If a part needs to be large to ensure quality than so be it, I also prefer the larger size because I know it usually will stay cooler. It's also kind of fun to look at a big graphics card. I just like the card being huge, it's cool to me.
Cons: - Doesn't make me waffles in the morning - Would be a very nice feature if ASUS integrated a full waffle maker into this card. In all seriousness, I have not been able to find a con about the card. Will report back if anything seems wrong.
Overall Review: Bought the card for $400.00 about 2 and half weeks ago, now the card went down roughly $100.00, made me a little sad. But great for anyone looking for a powerful card that is cheaper. To sum it up, this card is a monster for the price, will do just about anything your high maintenance gamer would like. Worth every cent. Great work ASUS.
Pros: Great fps on Far Cry 3.
Cons: Higher price than a GTX770.
Overall Review: My new build included this Asus780, a 4770k, a Sabertooth MB, a Samsung 500gb SSD, and 16gigs of Gskill. The main reason I upgraded to this setup was, well, strictly gaming videos. I play FarCry 3 a lot. It's very demanding on the GPU and processor side. I play it utilizing DZiggy's Mod version 2.71 which brings this great game to new heights. Everybody talks about FPS in gaming enhancement, and OCing everything. Also all the enhancing bells and whistles of anti-aliasing and the rest. I can only attest to what I see on my 30" Dell monitor when in play. No component of this new build is OC'd. In playing FarCry3 in1920-1080 (been playing at this ratio forever) with no added enhancement (MSAA, etc) and looking into a darkened jungle with jeeps exploding, fanatics blasting away at you, leopards trying to have you for dinner, I get between 85-100 fps. With the ratio set to 2560-1600, using the same scene above I get 55-60 fps. Even in high action scenes I have yet to notice a lag, skip, weird distortion of any kind at 2560. Here's what I find fascinating. The highly noticeable difference in sharpness at 2560 vs. 1920. It is striking. At 2560 this 780 card-processor combo really delivers some awe inspiring graphics, though I'm being told by my FRAPS application that I getting more FPS at 1920. ? The game flows absolutely flawless at either ratio but at 2560 the graphic rendering for me is highly noticeable without a doubt. They say higher FPS rates are meaningful, enhancements, etc. but it really doesn't affect my visual enjoyment of this video game. Of course, I tried all the enhancement bells and whistles at their limits at both 1920 and 2560, and maybe it's just these old eyes, but I don't notice any enhancement. So I am very satisfied to play this highly demanding and competitive game at 2560 and no further enhancement(MSAA, etc). This is one great VGA from an excellent manufacturer. And this card will probably be 3-5 yr futureproofing for the buyer. Definitely worth the extra $.
