Will this card support DirectX 12?

Direct X12 will be available with windows 10. To get full use you will need to upgrade when Windows 10 is available. A motherboard that supports PCI-E 3.0 would be recommended as well to get full bandwidth from the card.

So yes... This card, and any other 970 or 980 you may purchase will support DirectX 12 when it is available

Question 2

In terms of performance; will this outperform my current GPU, EVGA Nvidia GTX 770 Dual Superclocked 4GB 256-bit GDDR5? 
Will it perform the same? Less? Hard to find any solid info on the performance of the mini versions of these cards.

Never had the GTX770 so I can't exactly compare but this 970 is solid on Arkham Knight after the fixes on 1080p. Another solid game I tried was Crysis 3. I know these games aren't the state of art games at the moment. Try some YouTube videos.

Question 3

Can this graphics card (and potentially others of the same (6.7" size) be used in a 1u server chassis?

Fitting this card inside a 1U server chassis would only be possible if the chassis is designed to handle a two slot PCI card. So it all depends on what chassis you have, as well as having the right PCI-E 3.0 connection available.

I would not recommend this card in a server chassis due to it's smaller size. Due to the airflow restrictions of a 1U server chassis, as well as the airflow patterns of a typical datacenter, a longer GPU with more fans would be recommended. If this is being used in a home or business server, you might be able to pull it off if the server chassis had ventilation holes available for the GPU to intake outside air.

Question 4

What is the TPD on this card and what is the lowest watt power supply you'd recommend?

It all factors into what else you have in your system. If you have a beefy CPU, and multiple hard drives, and planning on just this one hard card, 650-750 would be recommended. If you've got one HDD, an SSD, and a decent CPU, 500w ought to do you fine as well.

I've got a 650w in my build and it's doing great. I still have room for a few more Hard drives... soon...

Question 5

What kind of Idle and load temps are users getting with this card?

My room temperature is 24c.
Idling at 33c right now.
Full load 67c. I haven't gone over 70c in any game since I upgraded to a case with better air flow.

My PSU is also on the bottom of my case, pulling air from the case, which helps bring cooler air to the GPU area.

Is this card worth it over the Gigabyte GTX 970 Mini ITX model?

ASUS claims to have a "vapor chamber" in this cooler. Not sure what it means, but the cooler is extremely quiet. If building an ITX HTPC + Gaming rig, that alone is worth it.

However the card is also slightly shorter, the design of the fan/shroud keeps any wires from getting caught in the fan, and heat is exhausted through a port in the backplate (sacrificing space for some video ports). All are good for cramped Mini-ITX rigs.

The Gigabyte model offers 3 display ports over the ASUS single display port. The Gigabyte still has the DVI-I,DVI-D, and HDMI the ASUS has. If many of your monitors offer display ports with resolutions over 1080p, the Gigabyte may be the better option. However, on all other counts I would suggest the ASUS.

Are there disadvantages with this card based on its size/dimension?

A card of this size and cooling capacity is not recommended to play with overclocking at all. But in stock settings, it's handling every game I'm throwing at it very well. Good case airflow is recommended. Most ITX cases these days put the card right next to the side of the case with air holes for it to breath, which allows it to cool itself very well. My case has the PSU in the bottom pulling air from the case, which helps get cooler air to cycle in the GPU's area.

Can I run a mini ITX card on an ATX mother board?

Like Bushmaster said, the pcie slot is the same. The main factor for you would be space in the case. Since this card is small, it really ought to fit in most cases. The fan on this tiny card actually works quite well. On my machine I use MSI afterburner to make sure the fan speed keeps up as it gets hotter. Can get a little noisy, as just about any card will if you turn the fans up enough. If I had more fans on my case, I could probably turn it down more. Better total ventilation is just as important as good heat dissipation away from components like CPU and GPU. Once a fan pulls heat off of a component, you still want that hot air to get cycled out of the case.

Possible to disable the white LED next to the power connector?

Doesn't appear to be a way to turn it off. I'm considering putting a drop of black latex on it when I get my water cooling and LEDs into my case. That way I can easily remove it later if I want/need to
