Why do some use fans?

Hello Ronald, I am not too sure about your question as every graphics card we sell uses fans to keep the card cool under load. If you mean why some use radiators or others use different style fans, it ultimately depends on who that product is aimed at. Graphics cards with radiators are aimed for enthusiasts who want to push the card beyond its normal thermal limits that would otherwise not be achievable with traditional cooling solutions. As for the cards using the single radial fan (a fan type that does not use fan blades, but is like a spinning motors that pulls air into the card and exhausts it out of the back of the card), those cards are typically used in smaller form factor systems that have very limited airflow or space inside to properly cool the graphics card without throwing the air back into the case (unlike the radial fan that sucks air in and exhausts it through the rear of the card as I previously mentioned).
