You can use "BIOS Flashback" to install any BIOS version without any CPU installed. There is one USB port that is specifically meant for this function, check the Asus motherboard manual or website to see how to do this as I cannot link anything here.

Can this fit in the mini itx slot for the corsair 1000D case? or is this too large?

This board is the M-DTX board. The M-DTX board size is between M-ATX and M-ITX. All cases supporting M-ATX or higher size can be used. The corsair 1000D case is big size case. So the corsair 1000D can used this board. I think the corsair 1000D case is too large for this board. If you want to use the corsair 1000D case, I recommend the the ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Hero. If you want to use this board, I recommend the the corsair 500D, 5000D, 7000X, 680X, 280X(I used), 4000X, 220T, etc...
