This will work. The technical specification says it supports 3000 series processors. Also, the maker of the motherboard, ASUS in this case, will have a tool on their website you can use to confirm. When in doubt, always go to the manufacturer. There is a modular set of brackets included you can put on to accommodate different heatsinks.

How big does the case have to be?

If I install an SSD will I lose my HDD?

No, I have both installed. Operation system on SSD and files on HDD.
