That is correct, the BTF is a chip that plugs in to the card and the supported board. There is a cover over the 12v connector when it's not in use. If you don't have a BTF board and think you might upgrade to a BTF board, it's nice to have.

Will this work w/ std 12v connector? Looks like there's a socket in addition to the BTF goldfinger thingy, as long as that doesn't interfere w/ your board. I saw the matching BTF TUF board but it was $500 - ouch!
