Is it safe to keep the laptop docked in the e-port while the a/c adapter is plugged in (using the the laptop as a desktop replacement)?  Would this kill the battery?

batteries last 1-2 years and are usually covered under warranty for 1 year. most corporate users use their laptop in a docking station. The AC adapter that comes with the docking station is only for the docking station, if you use the laptop charger on the dock, it will now work. the docking station requires a higher wattage.

Yes it is! I bought both items from newegg at same time as well as 2 24" dell dvi monitors. They all work perfectly with each other.

Does this have two DVI ports? I am replacing mine and this looks the same from the front, but no rear view.

The Plus Replicator is the one with 2x dvi and 2x Display ports you will be able to use whatever connection required so long as you have the DP adapter to the connection u want. Or if you use the DVI ports. Google the part 331-6304 or the 469-3399 part. I also believe this is the Pr02x part as well.

Yes, this should work with any of the e series Dell laptops.  I am IT Administrator for a TV station and we have quite a few different e series model laptops, including the e5440 and it works great!  I like the Plus model because it gives you dual monitor outputs.

I have a Latitude E7470 and it is not listed in the compatibility section in Dell website. Does anyone know if this works for this laptop?

Yes, it will work. You will have to connect it at the very edge (if that makes sense) because the port is closer to the edge of the laptop instead of the middle like on the older models. They will also ship a small plastic piece with the E7470 that goes in front of the connector on the dock to make it easier for you to dock the laptop without having to move it around to find the sweet spot.

I don't think this is designed for the inspiron, it is for the E family of latitude and some precision laptop.
