Is this a 7200 rpm drive? SuperSpeed SB 3.0

It is USB 2 - Not sure of the RPM....Stay away from it as far as you can. It is the worst external drive I ever purchased (and I have a few of them). One day it simply died (I am an IT person and I deal with a lot of hardware) and asked me to format it. I lost all data (had only 50gb) and I was not able to recover anything....

Question 2

Does it need to be plugged into an outlet, or is it powered by computer? Is it MAC compatible? Does it come with all the necessary cables?

It comes with a 120/240 VAC adapter and isn't powered by the computer.  It should be MAC compatible but you might need to format it to ensure it'll work on a MAC.

Also, it works great as a NAS when attached to my LinkSys EA-6900 router.

2 TB 7200 RPM USB 3 HDD Mac Compatibility for OS X 10.8.5?  Do you have one of these?
