Is this a 7200 rpm drive? SuperSpeed SB 3.0

It is USB 2 - Not sure of the RPM....Stay away from it as far as you can. It is the worst external drive I ever purchased (and I have a few of them). One day it simply died (I am an IT person and I deal with a lot of hardware) and asked me to format it. I lost all data (had only 50gb) and I was not able to recover anything....

Does it need to be plugged into an outlet, or is it powered by computer? Is it MAC compatible? Does it come with all the necessary cables?

It comes with a 120/240 VAC adapter and isn't powered by the computer. It should be MAC compatible but you might need to format it to ensure it'll work on a MAC. Also, it works great as a NAS when attached to my LinkSys EA-6900 router.
