Question 1

I was considering purchasing the Samsung EVO SSD and I'd rather not spend the extra 30 bugs for a desktop mounting bracket. The cheaper EVO comes with just the drive. Do the SSD mounts in this case require a desktop kit? i can't seem to find more specifics on them.

There are 4 places to mount SSD/2.5" drives in this case, two vertically inside of the front removable panel, where I feel there is somewhat moderate airflow, and two can be mounted on the bottom of the case under the motherboard/expansion cards.

None of the 4 2.5" mounting locations require a desktop bracket, you just need 4 properly threaded screws for your 2.5" drive.

Can this hold a regular ATX motherboard?

No unfortunately it can't, which is a shame because I love every other feature of this case.

Question 3

Can you put 8 drives in this case?

Accepted Answer

Yes. As stated in the specifications, the standard setup has room for 8 - 3.5" drives.
This is achieved by the two white drive racks that can be seen in the photos, each holds 4 drives vertically.
You add additional drive capacity by purchasing two extra case rails and an extra drive rack, which can be mounted on the bottom of the case next to the PSU (same side as racks shown) to expand the capacity to 12 drives.
NOTE: The extra parts are usually out of stock and are restocked very infrequently, so don't expect to be able to expand to 12 quickly.
It should technically be possible to add more drives, but that would depend on the space taken up by your other components, so I wouldn't count on more than that.

Question 4

Will this accommodate 2 x GTX 970's (280mm) cards?

Yes it will, if they are dual slot cards. As for the length, I have an EVGA 780 Classy with about 3/4 of an inch left of space from the front fan.You might have to take a fan off to clear some cable space , but I am pretty sure it will fit with a fan and it WILL fit without. .

What are the velcro straps for?

It's been so long since I assembled mine but usually the velcro straps replaces cable ties that usually come in the set to organize wires more effectively along the installation process or down the road changes or to possibly tie/strap down a thin cd/dvd drive in the front panel etc depending if the case have slots for them. is the side panel acrylic or tempered glass?

Definitely plastic and is fairly delicate. Rubbing too hard with even a microfiber cloth will leave faint swirl marks.

Can the front panel be removed for cleaning WITHOUT removing any other panels?

Yes it just snaps on and off.  It also has two fan filters behind the front panel that can be slid out from the bottom without taking off the front panel.

Question 8

I really want to buy this case but the cheapest optical drive that's compatible is $65.  This is a pretty significant chunk of cash considering most cases can accommodate a $20 normal 5.25" non slot load drive.  Are there any better options? I don't want to spend that much for something I will just use to install the OS and maybe a couple more times throughout the life of the pc.

It's hard to say, all OS's can be installed by flash drives now, you can download the ISO or build it from the CD. It depends on your needs, I actually haven't installed an optical drive on a computer in years

will hyper 212 plus fits in this case?
Also does it have power light and hard drive activity light and  
what color are they and where are they located?

I am using the hyper 212 evo and its got maybe 5mm of clearance to the glass wall.  Biggest problem I ran into is I the mobo was small so ram was packed close to the cpu and with larger heat sinks on it I could only do pull through the cpu cooler.  I think it has hard drive activity lights on it but not sure. I am using a raid card so don't really know.  I know it has a blue power light next to the power button.

i do not want to use HDD, how can i use all slots to put SSD in them?

You would need to purchase 3.5" to 2.5" hard drive adapters for your SSDs. There are only two 2.5" slots on the motherboard side of the chassis.
