Not showing in windows, I'm not sure what to do here. I just installed this HDD, It shows up in the Bios but is not showing in Windows. Anyone else have this issue or ideas on how to correct?

Go into Disk Management and Initialize the disk with GPT (not MBR). Then create partition(s).

I'm considering WD Black for use in a Synology NAS.  Would WD Gold be more appropriate?  In my mind, it's between Gold or Black because of the 5 yr warranty.

I have the Synology 214+ with 2 RED pros in RAID 1. These NAS drives have the latency times relaxed a little to stay in sync with each other and this prevents a bunch of wasted raid processor time error processing. The Red pro is also designed for 24/7 operation. The Red pro drives have been extremely  reliable.

Question 3

What is the Cache Size for the 4TB drive? (Your newegg advert states that 128MB Cache only comes on the WD Black 5TB and 6TB.  However, the listing, and photo of the 4TB drive indicate 128MB Cache.  You should indicate that 4TB, 5TB and 6TB all have 128MB cache - unless the picture is wrong... In that case your listing is wrong on the 4TB drive.)

The 4TB drive I purchased from Newegg came wirh 128MB cache. At one point in ths WD Black line the 4TB did indeed have 64MB of cache, put this model was replaced with 128MB a while ago.

Have the "thunk" noises been fixed yet?

Nope, but the case I have it in is pretty sound absorbent so I can just barely hear it.

Question 5

Can someone confirm that this 4TB model is in retail packaging? The description given above "Package includes a hard drive only - no screws, cables, manuals included. " sounds like an OEM package description.

OEM drive only, no screws or cables included. Very reliable but not the quietest.

Question 6

The information under the warranty tab for WD4004FZWX lists 2 years as the warranty, I thought the blacks had a 5 year warranty, is this an error?
