Question 1

Is this 6TB drive packaged with the plastic forms on each end to protect the drive from damage?  I've purchased a couple of these from a different store and they packaged the drives in not enough bubble wrap to adequately protect the drive.  There wasn't anything else to protect the drives from damage.

First the anti-static bag. Then better than a half inch thick preformed bubble wrapping container that snaps shut tightly. Not the usual fold around and taped arrangement usually found on drives or buried in a foam block. Then placed in a cardboard box. Then place in the final cardboard box for shipping. I was quite impressed by the wrapping used on the drive. Wish I could find the packing, but it was put away somewhere. Would have enclosed a photo for you. Much, much better packing method as far as I can tell. I don't think you'll be dis-satisfied if they use this method.

No, it not noisy. Sounds like any other hard drive with moving parts. Maybe quieter.

Question 3

So just received this drive today.  Installed it.  shows up in bios, however does not show up in Disk Management on windows 10.

I have 2 SSD and 2 other 4 TB hard drives installed so I know the bios settings are correct.  Is there any special instructions for getting windows to recognize this drive?

I have no idea why it didn't recognize it.  I plugged mine into an external usb3 drive caddy and it saw it and I was able to create one big partition as a GPT disk.

I can't remember if I ever plugged it into my system, I don't think I did.

When you open disk management it doesn't ask to initialize?  Can you format it in an external drive caddy?

Is this compatible with the ACER ATC-120-UC22 with a AMD A10-6700 APU?

Yes it is compatible with the hardware however if you are using windows you will need to change the partition type to GPT in order to get full use of the 6tb otherwise it only shows up as 2tb.

How does this compare in performance to the Seagate ST6000DX000 6TB 7200RPM desktop drive? 1TB/platter for the Seagate, 1.2TB/platter for this Western Digital but really how much faster might this drive be? Access times and random access performance are important, as well as sequential transfer rates on the outer and inner edges of platters. Thanks. No review sites have reviewed this drive, so figured it would ask here.

My gut says performance would be about the same. You don't see big differences in performance unless you are increasing the RPMs, going SAS or SSD.
