Looking for a long term backup of my NVMe drive. Hows the unplugged longevity of this drive?

My  WD Blue hard drive is only a few weeks old, so "long-term" is an unknown.  Two tips for you...
1 - Make two back-ups of your most important files.  Use the cloud if you must - they get hacked too.
2 - Keep all hard drives cool - fans are cheap and easy insurance to help protect your files.

Does this come with the the cables, or will I have to order those seperately?

No cables are included, just the bare drive. Even without cables this drive is a great value proposition - price vs performance. I've purchased several of these. Best bang for the buck.

Is this 2TB WD OEM?

The answer is yes. No cables or manuals come with it just the drive.

Could anyone point me towards the exact cables I need for this? First time adding anything to pc and don't know exactly how to find them.

For the data connection to your motherboard, just do a Newegg search for "SATA Cable".  There are many choices and styles.  Just make sure it supports 6Gbps.  As for the power, your power supply should have an extra SATA power connection.  If not, search for "SATA Power Y Splitter"

Question 5

I bought one, and it shows up in the bios and device manager, but is strangely absent in the disk management. It is compatible and not a SATA cable issue. Any ideas?

Go into "Disk Management" (press window icon, search "Disk Management"). The disk should appear, right click it & select "New Simple Volume" which will walk you through the process of setting up the new disk.

How good is the 5400 rpm version for running games off of? Ex. Steam Library.

It works great, that is exactly what I do with mine (it is my Steam Drive). never had an issue, no lag etc.

Does this drive run quiet? I don't want to hear any high pitched sounds or noise

Hello, I have installed several (6) of these drives. In my experience they are quiet drives. By that I mean I could never hear them above the noise of standard PC cooling fans in any case they were installed...shouldn't be a problem.

The drive is labeled as 2 TB, but I am only getting 2 GBs of available space. Any tips on how to fix this?

You'll need to provide some screenshots or a detailed explanation of your installation steps and how this drive is reading 2GB. Otherwise you may consider using Windows tools or downloading software from Western Digital to format and/or test your drive.

Is it normal for this drive to make a noise when spinning down?

Hdds make sounds but they are by no means loud. As long as its not a cliking sound you're pretty much ok. If it is a clicking sound rma it.
