Pros: You really can't go wrong with RAM these days, even factory installed chips aren't too terrible. As long as they've passed a burn test and are operating fine, RAM is RAM. Corsair takes a few steps in the right direction however by adding an additional sticker to the front and back of the sticks. The placebo effect in me makes me think somehow it may help with heat dissipation, at least some of the heat can travel into the sticker.
These sticks look great and are downright beautiful with the dark PCB, compared to standard green ones which look fairly ugly.
I ran a full 4-pass memtest on these stick inside a Gigabyte BRIX Pro. The process took about 3-5 hours and passed with zero problems. They performed like a champ.
I put them into my late 2012 Mac Mini and they worked as well. Absolutely no problems being detected by Mac OS X 10.9.5. Even though the Mac Mini originally came with 1.5V sticks, these sticks I believe can operate at 1.5V if required. Optimal is 1.35V of course.
Cons: RAM is still expensive due to the factory explosion. The price for these have fluctuated in the past few months, but still well over $150 easy. It is unfortunate, as I remember getting 8GB for less than $60 two years ago.
Overall Review: The difference between CL10 and CL9 to the average user is insignificant. Choose accordingly to the type of work load you expect your computer to do. These sticks are a wee bit more pricy than CL10 of course.
I have a pair of similar HyperX Impact sticks that are also 16GB (8GB x2) and CL9. Both are great.
Pros: been a long time user of corsair memory. i never was disappointed, and this time has been no different.
Cons: this is a rather odd thing actually. when the system is heating up, the glue under the corsair stickers on the memory sticks kind of smells like bacon. i though i was crazy for a while, and i laughed when i figured it out. then again i like bacon, so maybe that counts as a hidden pro?
Overall Review: i've had a memory kit from corsair die on me from 2011. i was very surprised when they honored their lifetime warranty and replaced it free of charge. that's why i stick with them. even after all this time.
Pros: Greatly improves RAM capacity.
Overall Review: Installed on Mid 2012 Macbook Pro 15"
Pros: Finally was able to upgrade from 4gb DDR3 stock envy hp notebook and my goodness it gave it so much more life to it. It runs so much faster and uploads everything super fast. Video editing runs smoother as well (Power Director 12). Easy to install and no issues. Worked and windows was able to detect everything right away. Plug and go.
Cons: None as of yet. Will give update in 6 months or so.
Overall Review: Great purchase and i was able to buy for 85$ out the door!
Pros: Trusted Corsair RAM forever - always an easy/good experience when a DIMM eventually and rarely fails.
Cons: This one time out of a ####..
Overall Review: Happened to have a bad DIMM out of the box - took a little while, but dealing directly with Newegg I got a replacement set now working beautifully. TY, Egg!
Pros: Took me to a Windows Experience Index (WEI) of 7.7
Noticeably faster map changes during game play, less lag and stuttering.
ENVY 17-3090NR 3D accepted the RAM and is using it to its full capacity.
Haven't run MemTest 86 on it yet, I will do tht within the next 2 weeks.
Cons: Nothing so far.
Overall Review: Just buy it!
Pros: I bought this,to replace 8 gigs ram that comes with CyberpowerPC Fangbook III HX6-266 Gaming Laptop 4th Generation Intel Core i7 4710MQ (2.50 GHz) 8 GB Memory 256 GB.
I installed the ram. I powered and booted the laptop. It was recognized instantly.
It does not seem to heat much compared to before when I was running only 8 gig ram with slower latency.
The memory was well packaged.
I am happy with this purchased.
Overall Review: Excellent for 3d sculpting and more than enough for gaming.
Pros: installed in msi leopard g60, no user definable bios, but they are running @ advertised speeds and timings. literally fell out of the package once I opened it-- they have SOLVED the impossible to remove packaging!
Cons: None. ..should have used a thin aluminium heatspreader under that sticker.
