In the spec sheet it says it has 0mb of cache?  Is this true? does it not have dram cache?  Also there are many variants of the mx500 out there, how do I know what what i'm getting?

Open it up and see if it has a 2.5" SATA slot. Most laptops have at least one but I did not see one mentioned on the product page when I looked it up.
If it doesn't have an upgrade slot, then it's limited to getting a PCIe card instead of SATA. The only way to include one of these would be to buy a separate cord to hook it up to the USB slots and use it as an external. It would need to be plugged in all the time to use as a permanent storage. I do not recommend this as a simple disconnect can possibly render it unusable.
