According to the review at tomshardware, the 1TB version is good for 360 TBW and the 2TB version for 720 TBW.

it appears that yes you can. THE HP website lists a 2.5 and 3.5 drive for that model depending on form factor. at worst an adapter that adapts it from a 3.5 to 2.5 would be needed but either way this is a good choice to replace a std hard drive. pull your side cover and look at the drive if it appears to be rather large than be sure to purchase an adapter to mount a 2.5in drive in place of a 3.5in drive

Can you put these in a Desktop?

Yes, these can be installed in a desktop, but they don't come with any mounting hardware.  Depending on your computer case, you may not need the separately-sold bracket, but you will need some screws (which may have come with your case, or you can find them in a hardware store) - they are not included with this SSD.

How is the performance of the Crucial BX500 1000GB SATA 2.5 inch SSD?

I've got 3 of them so far with the earliest from 2-3 years ago and the most recent being this year with no issues on any of them.  I'm not a big tech nerd so I don't go too hard on the specs for SSDs.  I use the M2 drives for performance stuff like games and these SSDs for long term storage and stuff.  I kept buying them because the first worked.

Is this SLC, MLC, TLC, or QLC?  I.e.  Single, Multi, Triple, or Quad Level Cell?

TLC, but it has no cache.  I'd recommend spending the extra $10-20 on their MX series drives.  The have dram cache, better performance, a 2 year longer warranty, and almost triple the write rating before expected failure.

will this be HD compatible for my Lenova G50-45 Model 80E3 and do I need the 9.5mm adapter?

This SSD should be 100% compatible with your laptop. From what i can tell looking at your laptop specs it holds a standard laptop 2.5" hdd so the adapter should not be needed. Hope this helps

Does this drive have any migrating software?

Yes, it comes with Acronis True Image for Crucial. It is called cloning software and will transfer the entire drive including apps and the operating system, but bear in mind that this version can only transfer the information to a larger drive. EXAMPLE : If your old drive is a 1TB and the new drive is 500GB than the software cant transfer it even if you are only using say 200GB of the drive. If your old drive is 500GB and the new drive is 1TB than the software will work but bear in mind that it does an exact image so your new 1TB drive will say its only 500GB in size till you add the unallocated space in disk manager.

The best i could suggest that could be used for would be a usb to sata adapter and used as an external hard drive. With some extra set up, you could turn it into a separate operating system.
