Awesome Customer Service

Mushkin Enhanced Ventura Plus 64GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive MKNUFDVS64GB
Mushkin Enhanced Ventura Plus 64GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive MKNUFDVS64GB

Pros: Haven't had a chance to test out the new drive, but it is nice a slim, so you can use adjacent ports and has a metal housing. Also, I broke my first one and Mushkin sent another one for free, despite me admitting that the product was damaged due to my own negligence/cat. Their customer service is top notch. I've never experienced this with any electronics manufacturer before.

Cons: Not a capless design, but obviously I knew that when I bought it. It should include some type of lanyard or key ring. I love my patriot supersonic rage for being retractable, but its so bulky that it blocks the ports next to it and won't even fit into the USB 3.0 ports on a Lenovo T430.

Overall Review: BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE EVER!

Most Critical Review

Works occasionally for USB 2, or slow device charger.

StarTech.com 1 Port Flush Mount ExpressCard SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Card Adapter
StarTech.com 1 Port Flush Mount ExpressCard SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Card Adapter

Pros: Good idea, I bought this originally for my Lenovo T510 to add USB 3 since I have several USB 3 flash drives. When it works the speed is excellent and fairly close to the built-in ports on my desktop (100mbps seq read). Sits flush with side of laptop. Has port to supply extra power.

Cons: When inserting a usb connector it pushes the card in and then makes it want to pop out. When removing a flash drive it will rip the card out of the expresscard slot. 90% I can't even get a flash drive to be detected by this card even though the card is displaying in device manager with no problems and latest firmware and driver. I think this is a physical issue though. The port is really tight and the outside is basically just like the edges of some sheet metal. It is nearly impossible to get most of my devices to plug in, though my phone cable slides in easier. Also, though this is not terribly accurate, I tried using included cable to provide more power. My phone did not show that it was getting anymore power when I had the USB A connector of the auxiliary power cable plugged into my computers USB port. It showed about 100mA. Then I tried plugging it into a USB phone charger-no change.

Overall Review: I basically have never used this card since I had never really been able to get it to work. I purchased it so it would be flush with the side of my laptop and I could leave it in. Now I wish I would have bought a 2 port card. Despite adding the extra bulk, I think it would actually work due to having the extra plastic to keep the card from popping out when inserting a device and it would allow you to hold onto something when removing. Oh, I have also tried using it in my T430 to add a third USB 3 port with the same results. Get the two port and plug it in when you need it--at least it will work.

Awesome Board for 5 Months

ASRock Z87 Extreme4 LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
ASRock Z87 Extreme4 LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Good feature/port set, seemingly high quality, looks nice, good layout for my case, 32GB RAM support, and NO LEGACY PCI SLOTS! Four PCIE slots on a matx board! Seriously, who wants PCI slots on their boards anymore? Oh, and price!

Cons: Simply stopped powering on one day after it had been turned off for 30 seconds. I had zero trouble out of this board and really liked it until I accidentally hit shut down instead of restart after some windows updates (no driver updates, not that it should matter). After that it would not power back on, even completely stripped of all other components. I also tried different RAM, reseated the CPU, hooked up another PSU, and tried a spare power switch. The USB ports still get power and charge devices, but that is all it does! All the cloud stuff they advertise is a total mess. I assumed it wouldn't be great, but figured ASRock would actually provide some more functional centralized software for it of their own, rather than making you use 10 different pieces of software to try to take advantage of all the advertised features. I said forget it after 30 minutes and had a VPN tunnel on my Cisco 1841 up in the same amount of time.

Overall Review: I am a server admin and can say 100% this is a defective board. It was hooked into a high end UPS and was definitely not caused by a surge. This is my primary rig at home, so I don't have time to get it replaced under warranty and immediately bought a new board. For some reason I decided to gamble on ASRock again and bought the Z97 version of this board. I hope that one lasts more than a few months, but I am not going to be happy if the warranty process does not go smoothly as I want to get the bad one fixed so I can have a backup incase this is common with ASRock boards (This is the first time I have used one of their products). I really hope one of their reps takes the time to respond to this review or I will be done with them. In fact, rather than having my old board replaced. I'd rather have a refund for even half its original price or some credit towards one of their mini-ITX PC's, but I'll probably be lucky to not have to pay $40 in shipping just to get someone else's repaired junk.

Western Digital WD VelociRaptor WD2500HHTZ 250GB 10000 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive
Western Digital WD VelociRaptor WD2500HHTZ 250GB 10000 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Fast and cheap. This is my first experience with raptors. I saw it on sale for $59 and couldn't pass it up. The performance exceeded my expectations.

Cons: Loud compared to everything else in my relatively quiet build. Wish I would have gotten two to RAID, but will definitely add a second in the future.

Overall Review: Atto sequential benchmark: 183 MBps write, 192MBps read. My plan for this drive is to install a few games I play and run my virtual machines from it. I can't afford several hundred gigs of SSD storage for this purpose, but want better performance than I get from the 7200rpm drives where I store music and video.
