Fan as expected, install straight forward

ZALMAN CNPS9900MAX-B 135mm Long life bearing CPU Cooler Blue LED
ZALMAN CNPS9900MAX-B 135mm Long life bearing CPU Cooler Blue LED

Pros: Works as advertised: reduced Intel i5-3570 CPU temp by about 15 degrees compared to stock Intel cooler. (no overclocking). Ambient temperature really makes a difference (I live in an un-airconditioned house in Hawaii...usually high 70's) Very quiet even at max RPM. Quieter than my mid-grade case fans all the time.

Cons: The "quiet" setting is accomplished by a voltage-reducing (therefore rpm reducing) cable insert. kind of goofy. Included alan wrench (hex key) tool was of very low quality.

Overall Review: This thing is HUGE. Get a ruler out that has centimeters, and MEASURE TWICE to make sure it will fit. I had absolutely no issues with the install as other reviewers have reported. (no cables or ram interference, no bending, etc). That said, my computer case gives access to the back of the cpu-mount on the motherboard without any dissassembly. The computer case is easily wide enough to accomodate the height of the heatsink. Cooler Master Storm Trooper. Finally, this thing is HEAVY. In the fine print of the instructions, it says to REMOVE THE HEAKSINK before TRANSPORT!! to avoid damage to the motherboard.

Hard Drive Dies...

Seagate Desktop HDD ST3000DM001 3TB 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive
Seagate Desktop HDD ST3000DM001 3TB 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: $/GB - Storage size is great

Cons: I am getting the one I purchased in September (5 months old) replaced on warranty. Totally dead. Not even picked up by different ports/cables/etc on the motherboard. Since it was "only" for storage, and in a RAID1 (Redundant mirror) system, I suffer no loss except for time. Wish they'd pay me for that.

Overall Review: Shocking that I have become accustomed to hard drives failing. Had another seagate laptop HD die right before end of warranty (2.5 years on a three year warranty) and got it replaced as well. I am fully invested in redundant systems/backups. So sad that it has to be that way. Low quality? Planned obsolescence? I do not give any referrals for any hard drive brands anymore. Its not fair. Good luck!!

As expected, minus one thing...

Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E430 627169U 14" LED Notebook - Intel - Core i7 i7-3632QM 2.2GHz - Matte Black
Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E430 627169U 14" LED Notebook - Intel - Core i7 i7-3632QM 2.2GHz - Matte Black

Pros: Great value for the $$ (about $750 before extended warranty). Needed an optical drive, otherwise would have gone with a smaller computer. Love that it has HDMI out. Love that nearly everything is user-serviceable: self-upgrade RAM and self-upgrade Hard Drive (for when SSD's become less expensive). Love that you can upgrade the RAM to 16GB if needed.

Cons: Had hoped for a sturdier outer shell...a little surprised at how much is plastic. The webcam really leaves something to be desired. I don't know how this could be rated to 720p...

Seems to work fine

MASSCOOL Fanner-420 Thermal Grease
MASSCOOL Fanner-420 Thermal Grease

Pros: Lots of grease. As in 10+ applications.

Cons: No instructions, so in the end you are left with google's rumor-mill on how to clean and prep surfaces, how much to apply, how to apply, etc.

CM Storm Trooper - Gaming Full Tower Computer Case with Handle and External 2.5" Drive Dock
CM Storm Trooper - Gaming Full Tower Computer Case with Handle and External 2.5" Drive Dock

Pros: Room for all of my hardware. Pre-installed fans, front audio, USB (3.0), and ESATA. Tool kit storage. Fans run pretty quiet.

Cons: Tools required for some peripheral installation. Really thought that by this time (2012) all cases would have come up with completely tool-less hardware.

Overall Review: Huge. Not a mid-tower at all. Room for NINE (9) optical drives in the front (at the expense of 3.5in slots, but there's room for 2.5in drives elsewhere)! Drop-ships from vendor (not newegg), so shipping perks may not apply.

HyperX 3K 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) (Stand-Alone Drive) SH103S3/120G
HyperX 3K 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) (Stand-Alone Drive) SH103S3/120G

Pros: Speed, drive installation in computer.

Cons: Even on a new (9/12/12) MoBo, a BIOS update was needed to get this drive recognized.

Overall Review: A novice user might not be able to "plug n play" this drive, depending on their motherboard, and the user's technical understanding. After the bios hiccup all runs smoothly.
