I have a new Dell Inspiron laptop running Windows 7 and an HP LaserJet 4200n printer whose network card burned out but whose parallel port was still functional -- but no parallel port on the laptop. After reading many reviews online, this adaptor seemed most promising for the OS/hardware combination -- and Windows 7 automatically installed some driver the first time I plugged it in and the printer was automatically configured. Job finished at step 1.
