This Creative Sound BlasterX AE-5 Plus has very Clean Sound Quality and does not Dull out at High Volume Levels as the Creative Sound Blaster Z did. The Creative Sound Blaster Z was a very Poor Quality Sound Card and the Software was even more frustrating. This AE-5 Plus sounds better than the EVGA Nu Audio and even better at Higher Volume Levels. The EVGA would dull out the High Frequencies at 90% Volume levels. The EVGA was way overpriced for what it was and had no What You Hear Software, so no Music Audio was not possible to Record with no Stereo Mix options available. That to me was an EVGA Rip Off to not include What You Hear Stereo Mix.
Easy install. Good sound quality for what I use. App makes setup easy
I love this card, I just got it and started fiddling with it. It comes with the obvious stuff, such as an equalizer, but what sets it apart from my onboard video is the crystallizer and Dolby Audio encoder. The crystallizer makes it so sounds are more distinct and all of their elements are more distinguishable, especially if you have a 5.1 speaker setup. It just sounds better. With onboard audio my biggest complaint was that while I have a 5.1 speaker setup, if listening to music I only heard sound on the 2 front speakers. but with this card and a bit of fiddling I was able to get sound on all speakers, here's what I did: -Activate the Dolby Audio Encoder -Under Playback, set speaker config to 5.1 ; under full range speakers, check both front left and right, as well as surround speakers. Bass redirection and subwoofer gain also sound good. -Under the SBX profile, create a new profile and activate the surround value, I hear all speakers when it's set to 40. Also recommend, crystallizer sounds best at 50. Once you adjust your speaker volumes as described below, keep cranking up the surround value until you can hear sound on all speakers. -Back under playback, you must calibrate your speakers, for the rear and center front speakers, keep increasing their volume output until you can hear them. Reducing their distance is good too, high distance makes them sound a bit mushy, setting them closer makes them crisper. just mess with that part until you have something you like. What's nice about this setup is that different sound elements from a song or video are split between all speakers, which just makes it sound nice and fancy, and sounds right if all your speakers are close, and in front of you; which is my setup. The above configuration might sound weird or different if your speakers are all around you, and if some are further away from you. Also it comes with scout mode, making footsteps more audible, useful if you want to be a total try hard at CSGO. I haven't tried it so can't comment much more
Seems well made Minimalist Aesthetics SBX Software has a good balance between sound profile options, EQ, and simplicity 👌🏽
I wasn't it expecting it be this good, the sound quality is really amazing
I brought this because my mother board sound card was dying and was unable to install an internal card due to my graphics card being mounted vertically in my case preventing access to the card slots. This little device was easy to connect and use having noticeably better sound quality than the original mother board audio before it developed issues.
- It's super cheap - Install is plug-n-play on Windows 10. No driver installation! - Works great, sounds good and hassle-free
- Less than 5 minutes to install and configure - compact ergonomic design
Easy install
Right out of the box it has been working just fine for me. Clear audio highs and lows. I'm using it via optical and it works perfectly. The small form factor was nice as well. More breathing room for my GPU.
-Works out-of-the-box on Windows and PS4 -Works with any 3.5mm jack device -Sounds better than my on-board sound card
Sound coming from my 7.1 speakers at 5 is like when i had them hooked up to my onboard audio for Asus Crosshair VII Hero at 85. Love the software it comes with.
I know Creative Labs customer service has gone downhill in recent years but for those who don't have a problem with the software set, it's a high-quality card for a very competitive price. I've owned Creative products going bakc to a true SB16 ISA, Awe64Gold, SB512, SBLive and now the Audigy. I enjoy the software set delivered with the 2-ZS. Used to have to hunt down parametric eq's and other tools. Now there are many more options from which to choose. Bottom line for me - I've not had the problems others have had - clean install, and quality sound. I don't game much, mostly music and with my Klipsch speakers, it sounds better than many home sound systems. I guess it boils down to what you need the card for...
