- Fast for Magnetic Drive - Quiet

I have a 24 and 28TB of the same series drives and they are quiet and very fast. One is 6 months old other just received, working great. I cannot emphasize how quiet they are even during seeking compared to my aging 10TB HGSTs. They transfer over 300MB/sec empty but last track falls off to <250MB/secstill very fast, 50% faster than the drives they replace.

This Drive is awesome for my TrueNAS Server, and I have been waiting for the right time to buy them.

-Transfer rates are good - average a little over 200MB/s, drive to drive on the same LSI HBA on Unraid if it matters. -Temperature is good - average 30C in a 20C room during continuous transfer of files, about the same as a 6TB (WD6003FFBX), and about 5C lower than a 10TB (WD102KFBX). Idle temp is ~26C. This drive and comparables are in the same server/array. - Noise is relatively low, about the same as a 6TB and noticeably more quiet than the 10TB. - Cost per TB is good when on sale, very close to the largest 18-22TB rate.

A normal household could put all their data on this drive and still have room. The speed of the drive is as advertised considering hardware and use. Noise is what you would expect from the usual HDD you've been buying and using for years, in that way it is quiet. I could not hear the drive running over the fans in the case. With case open and the system running as quiet as possible, it sounded about the same as the other drives in my system. 3 year warranty is on the upper end of a non-enterprise drive like this, with an expected lifetime far into the future. Knowing how technology changes, it should last you until you no longer need it.

Good capacity and pretty quite even under load.

Drive was easy to install, system recognized it without issue and formatted fairly quickly. I was surprised how quiet it was for a BarraCuda drive, but it seems they have split the line into Barracuda, Barracuda pro and FireCuda. Very fast read speeds, was equal or faster than other drives I have in the 3 - 4TB size Drive has some kind of power down features, but it was surprisingly fast to respond and power back up when needed Good balance of speed and efficiency Very good storage drive

I bought 2 of these drives; each serves as a backup drive for offsite storage. Each is installed in a heavy duty USB 3.0 external drive case and they alternate going offsite on a weekly basis. I feel that these drives and the HD external case provide superior protection of my data over common external drives. These drives replaced smaller WD blue drives so I could extend the number of backups retained.

-Got for Synology NAS. No issues running well.
