Works fast and has good cost per TB. When I build, I typically use a smaller 'boot' drive and a separate SSD/HDD for data storage but didn't feel I needed to with this. I did install this with a third-party heat sink mainly because this was going to be the only drive in the system and didn't want premature failures or slowdowns. Probably overkill but the temps do stay way, way down.

Download the free Acronis True Image for Western Digital which will allow cloning the drive. It also has backup and system protection features, which provide ongoing protection (5 year free license). With a USB enclosure, one can perform the cloning operation, and then swap the drives. Very nice!

After much anguish in looking for an SSD to replace the Intel Pro 2500 360GB in my Dell Precision m3800, I took a chance on this Samsung 1TB replacement. Dell's can be finicky about what goes in them. No need for 3rd party software as I used the Samsung software to transfer my data over from the old drive to the new one after connecting it externally. Once completed opened up the m3800 and used the old drive bracket to place the new 870 into place and booted up normally. I needed to delete the old drive in the Device Manager for Windows to recognize the new drive but other than that it's larger, faster, and runs exactly like it should.
