Phanteks Enthoo Evolv Shift Air mini-ITX Case, Mesh Fabric Side Panels, Aluminum Panels, RGB Controller, Black
Phanteks Enthoo Evolv Shift Air mini-ITX Case, Mesh Fabric Side Panels, Aluminum Panels, RGB Controller, Black

Pros: - Fantastic case. High quality for the price, high quality regardless of the price tag.

Cons: - Tricky build. Not recommended for first-timers or casual use. Need to think things through if you're going for performance (air flow, cable management, hardware form/fit, etc.)

Overall Review: - AAA Rating. Evolv Shift X build coming up next.

Great Product. Challenging Build.

Phanteks Enthoo Evolv Shift PH-ES217E_AG Anthracite Gray Anodized aluminium panels, Powder coated steel chassis, Tempered glass side panels Mini-ITX Tower Computer Case Support SFX, SFX-L Power Supply

Pros: - Nicely designed. Physical envelope and form factor is nearlyy perfect for any single-core/GPU setup. - Overall dimensions and footprint, aesthetics. Beautiful. - Front, rear, and side panel remove-ability made assembly much easier (relatively). - In the end, challenges associated w/ building in the tight spaces was well worth it and a lot of fun. Impressive design work, quality product, very reasonably priced.

Cons: - Exhaust air flow (front 140mm fan mounting locations) is highly restricted by the front panel, in general intake and exhaust airflow is pretty restricted/limited. Hardware was running too hot in sustained loads (i.e., gaming, video editing, modeling), but I'll be switching everything over to the mesh side panel version to accommodate. Update - some minor mods got temps where they need to be (mesh side panels, super pleased when you guys realized packages run too hot doing anything beyond browsing the web and got working on a solution; reverse GC config (if air-cooled); purchase and properly apply some quality thermal paste; remove the air filters; dual high pressure fans mounted on both sides of the radiator; slim exhaust fans (in my case); couple other minor things. And yes, I liked looking at this case enough to make it work. - Building and running cables was a major pain in the a**. Make sure you strategically think about your configuration before ordering. I had to place several follow-up orders, visit the hardware store a couple times, disassemble/reassemble a couple times, etc. - The PCIe extender is garbage, use a Thermolake TT premium or equivalent alternative with the graphics card in reverse orientation. Clip on the Phanteks one is weak, came disconnected from the MB too easily. Update: it's actually not too bad. Gets the job done. - Lid is difficult to remove, and the hinges could be a little beefier, the switches are cheap. Air filter meshing on the lid isn't fully adhered. Notes (for the engineers at Phanteks): --Depth should be increased 1-2" (it's seriously that close!). Larger graphics cards (2080 Ti in my case, one of the larger ones for now, 4.41" W) reversed, there's not quite enough space for an exhaust fan w/ standard THK, card, 8 pin power connectors (located at the bottom of the card), and PSU. This is irrelevant if you're running water cooled GPU, if air-cooled hp cards run too hot in standard config and must be in 'reverse' to allow for unrestricted intake (rather than recycled intake with 1" clearance from the MB). -- Hole for thumbscrews on the removable side panels, why are they threaded? They shouldn't be. Increased DIA and retaining washer or c-clip would be more elegant, as the thumbscrews don't need to be completely removed. More importantly -it's easy to cross thread and feel the difference if threads are engaged w/ the chassis or panel. -- TBD

Overall Review: - All that being said, overall solid AAA rating for Phanteks on this one, love it. Loved it enough to make it work, bought a second for future builds too. Lots of positive feedback/comments regarding the size and appearance. Super slick, excited to see what's coming next in your product line.

Overall Review: - Yeah, it was worth it.

Bigger the Better?

Corsair Hydro Series H80i V2 Water / Liquid CPU Cooler. 120mm CW-9060024-WW
Corsair Hydro Series H80i V2 Water / Liquid CPU Cooler. 120mm CW-9060024-WW

Pros: - high quality product, what I'd expect to receive when ordering a Corsair product - sleeved feed//return lines - pump qual. and RGB light

Cons: - iCUE light/RGB built into the pump assembly (not a con if you're into the flashy look) - the fans included are BBB rated (noisy, average air flow, not PWM), I used SP120's instead.

Overall Review: - Overall A+, great product, high quality, looks good, and works well. Keeps CPU (AMD Ryzen 9 3950X) stable around 64 C at 50% load. But, bigger might not always be better when it comes to radiators. Increased thickness reduces air flow through the foils. H55 w/ 2 SP120's under the same load/duration keeps CPU temps lower. Food for thought.
