Great Card - READ if you intend to RMA for "issues"

XFX HD-587A-ZNF9 Radeon HD 5870 (Cypress XT) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card w/ATI Eyefinity
XFX HD-587A-ZNF9 Radeon HD 5870 (Cypress XT) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card w/ATI Eyefinity

Pros: Very fast. Significantly faster than my 4870. Fixed graphical problems within a day. VERY easy fix. DISABLE the overdrive function. It's that simple guys. Don't RMA the card, you're wasting your time. See my "other thoughts" for more info. Games that I couldn't play with AA now have it ratcheted up to the max setting and I still get 40+ FPS. Have it paired with a Phenom II, plenty fast processor for it.

Cons: None. I realize that everyone's mileage may vary when it comes to the graphics issues, tearing, etc. But I had them all - from Aero in Windows 7 to Eve and Star Trek Online crashing on me. The issues are fixed now.

Overall Review: I normally skip generations, but the numbers were too enticing, and I run a 27" Acer B273HU, so the more pixels I can push, the better. As for you folks who think that RMAing the card is at fault here, STOP. After reviewing forums online, from AMD, to THG, AMDZone, and Anandtech, this is what it basically boils down to: when overdrive is enabled in the ATI driver, the card is clocking down further than it should when in 2D mode, or too high in 3D mode, and it leads to the graphics problems that so many people complain about. I was dismayed to discover that my card had these issues that everyone is RMAing cards for, but I tried it. You know what? I can't speak for everyone, but it fixed all of my issues. My games are stable again, and I have zero issues. ATI is aware of the issue and will release a driver fix for it soon. Do NOT let this dissuade you from buying this fantastic card!

IOGEAR GPSU21 1-Port Print Server RJ45 USB 2.0
IOGEAR GPSU21 1-Port Print Server RJ45 USB 2.0

Pros: None, did not work with an HP printer that was on their compatibility list. Even with multiple USB cords & different settings.

Cons: Does not print jobs. Can browse the interface just fine, and the device knows the printer is attached, but absolutely nothing happens when I try to print from it.

Overall Review: IOGear Tech support feels as though they're reading everything off of a screen that their supervisor custom makes for their access on the fly. I haven't felt so much more knowledgeable than the support rep in a long time. IOGear, you need to better equip your support agents for their jobs. Seriously.

Pleasantly surprised, full review below.

Logisys CS6501H 1.2MM Steel 4U Rackmount Server Case
Logisys CS6501H 1.2MM Steel 4U Rackmount Server Case

Pros: Lots of room for the motherboard, power supply and most components. QUIET. Honestly, if you look at the fans when reviewing the product, and like me, opening the box up and seeing all the fans, going "great, how will this thing sound" honestly, it creates a subtle wind tunnel sound, but it's not the wailing banshee I thought it would be, especially given that the fans in the middle of the chassis use a common Molex for power. The two rear fans use 4 pin connectors that work fine on motherboard 3 pins. They're quiet as well. The two fans up front produce almost no noise, but they're larger than the others. Air flow is NOT an issue on this case. I also really dig the removable hard drive cages - just swing open the front doors and unscrew the cages, slide them out and populate the hard drives. Easy. The gap between the midplane fan housing and the back of the hard drive cages is a little tight - be sure you keep the hard drive cages unscrewed for a bit if you need to adjust them a bit to do some cable work. I didn't have too many problems with the standard length SATA cables, though buy some extended 18" cables if you're worried. It'll help in the end. The filters on the front doors are nice and beefy, yet still allow massive amounts of airflow through. You can actually feel the air flowing by your hand if you stick it in front of the case. That's pretty amazing given the density of these things.

Cons: Won't fit the tower coolers, but honestly, it's a server case, so expecting my Hyper 212+ to fit was kind of silly, and an oversight on my part. Had the caps on the top of the heatpipes not extended as far as they did, maybe it would work (the tips were only a few mm too tall, so the right person could probably make it work) I moved to a smaller heatsink that was still well rated and solved that problem. If you have a gigantic tower cooler, be aware of this. If you can use the OEM heatsink or something smaller, you'll be fine. No rails, but I knew that when I was buying it.

Overall Review: I've been building both consumer PCs and administering enterprise servers for years - when I set out to build a storage server for the home network, I settled on this case. I let it sit in the other room for a week before finally working the nerve up to build with it today. I had nothing to fear, as this case was a pleasant surprise in the end. It is WAY quieter than I thought it would be. Well done, Logisys. Newegg got it to me alright, and a few dings and dents to the cardboard indicated that UPS probably played rugby with it, but the case itself was otherwise unscathed. If you need a deep case for a larger motherboard, with lots of storage capacity (I outfitted it with 6 hard drives, could easily hold 8 before using 3.5" adapters in the middle slots) this one is priced fairly for what you get. Would definitely recommend.

Diamond Multimedia - How the Mighty Have Fallen

DIAMOND Radeon HD 6770 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 CrossFireX Support Video Card 6770PE51GB
DIAMOND Radeon HD 6770 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 CrossFireX Support Video Card 6770PE51GB

Pros: Was sufficient for the needs of the system it was installed in

Cons: Driver crashes were constant, unrelated to driver revision installed. When attempting to get warranty replacement, company states that the warranty period is actually ONE year unless you register the card to receive the full five years.

Overall Review: Neither Newegg nor Diamond MM made the slimy warranty details present so that I could make an informed purchase decision, so has effectively robbed me. I will never do business with Diamond MM again, and Newegg is on notice. So disappointed.

Piece of Junk!

Rosewill RX35-AT-SU BLK Aluminum 3.5" Black SATA USB 2.0 External Enclosure
Rosewill RX35-AT-SU BLK Aluminum 3.5" Black SATA USB 2.0 External Enclosure

Pros: NONE

Cons: Someone really fell asleep at the factory on these lately. Lost a 1TB hard drive to one of these. Not because of operational use mind you, but because it's now impossible to get the stupid drive out of the enclosure! What a joke! I have another one of these and it works fine, but it had the right specs milled, so that you could easily slide the drive in and out, but this is a joke!

Overall Review: Buy another brand that has adequate spacing because now there's NOTHING that can be done to get the drive out.

Longtime SBS User / Admin

Microsoft Windows Small Business Server Standard 2011 (no media, license only)
Microsoft Windows Small Business Server Standard 2011 (no media, license only)

Pros: Integrated server perfect for small businesses. Don't let the end of life promise of this OS scare you - it is a powerful OS with capabilities that every small business can easily manage. From an internal Sharepoint "intranet" site to Email via Exchange and effortless VPN and File sharing... don't let this one pass you by. The new "Server Essentials" platform that Microsoft is introducing can't even compare to all you get with SBS 2011. I've run the predecessor 2008 for a long time, and am very comfortable with the line.

Cons: End of Life by the end of 2013. Such a fantastic small business server OS should be kept going. It's also a bit of a RAM hog - be sure you've got at least 16GB for this version if possible.

Overall Review: WaterwayTek is correct - this DOES ship with the media, so don't let Newegg's title fool you. The Discs included are the OS install, the prep disc and a recovery disc. Easily imaged to ISO format for deployment via VMware if you so choose.
